Thanks mate! Its not perfect but more than happy with the progress. Ultimately it's just a case of good prep and taking your time. Also it being a third or fourth car and not being under any pressure time wise or financially does help!

You are 2 steps ahead of me in on my project E36 Vert. I'm very happy youre uploading your progress as i got sedan 1/2 rocker panels and was wondering what i would do in regards to the jack point location. Because its a Convertable i have to deal with alot more sheet metal with thicker guage. Thank you
@HardlyExotic5 ай бұрын
Yup it sure isn't easy on those convertibles. Take your time, lots of photos and try to remove pieces cleanly as possible without bending etc so you can make replacements from them. Good luck!

NICE! I may need to do this exact thing in the near future. I'm in the process of repairing my drivers side (left) floorpan and rocker. Then Im gonna have to repair a section of the left rear wheel well. AS of now, the rear jack point appears to be solid. But I wont know for sure until I remove the last bits of metal from around it. Im trying to do all of this in sections in an attempt to prevent tha car from sagging due to a lack of structure/support. I like your tutorial. Just liked and subscribed!

Thanks for the Sub buddy! Good luck with the fabrication, it's a lot of work, and a bit of a thankless task!

Nice work mate. Tube works well doesnt it.. nice and strong.
@HardlyExotic5 ай бұрын
Yup very happy with this setup. Do you tie in any of the metal work either side of the original tube or leave it as I have?
@GaragE36uk5 ай бұрын
@@HardlyExotic tie it into the body with some bracing.

I was thinking directly horizontal to the inner sill should do the job?

Nice man! I've been trying to get this done to my 328 vert aswell. It's not as bad as this, but there is some work to do. After welding and before closing everything up, is it not needed to close the welding-spots up with like primer for it not to rust again in future? Or were you planning on doing that in the next videos?
@HardlyExotic5 ай бұрын
Thanks mate. Yeh the verts have a much more complex sill design so is a fair bit trickier to repair! Good spot, so before I weld on the outer sill, I'll wire wheel and prime all of the inside surfaces next 🙂

@@HardlyExotic that is exactly my situation, i also have a Vert. thank you for sharing your progress
@HardlyExotic5 ай бұрын
@@myvw8u good luck with it! Thanks for the comment
@GaragE36uk5 ай бұрын
@myvw8u verts have a a few more skins inside, making them a lot more work, but because of the extra skins they also hold more water it seems and rust even more..We have done a few verts that have been terrible
