How about a video on diy layering a 1" thick black rubber butly foam, with one side of self adhesion, onto the inner side of car tires. Do a dB check before & after. Maybe reduction of 5dB?. Good to know how much lead, in weight, are needed to rebalance every one of these tires. Later after doing 10,000km do another dB test. Then check these tires if adhesive bonding is still good. Did it make a big difference in engine noise in the cabin? I drive a 525d with the M57 engine and would like to quiet it a bit.

E39 is fairly quiet and this change did not made noticeable difference in the cabin.

What is that second layer added on top of the deadening material?

it is something similar to this. www.nonsolospeakers.com/sound-dampening-deadening/13523-ctk-multimat-pro-sound-insulation-material.html it contains multiple materials to absorb and block sound. Effective sound proofing needs 3 layer. sound deadening(butyl rubber), isolator(usually closed cell foam), and sound blocking(something tense and heavy). this material contains all of them.

So what's the point of this? You didn't even record the engine sounds before and after, so I guess that wasn't the goal, nor the cabin sound. Nice waste of time since, apparently, the main goal was to change the sound the hood makes when someone knocks on it.

Title says it is hood soundproofing. But anyways there is graph at the end, that shows before and after. There was not noticeable difference that's why there is no video. Hood soundproofing can't give much difference to the interior
