BMW E39 Hood Struts Replacement

How to replace hood struts on a BMW E39. Got this Stabilus (OE) set from FCP Euro.

yes, even with the new strut on one side it wouldn't hold the bonnet up so you need the plank!! not great to have it fall on top of your arms or head lol. I wonder if these really are the right ones, everyone says they are, but it feels like it could do with beefier struts. Also they don't feel as secure as the trunk/boot struts. These you can just pull off without undoing the clips.

Thanks for the video. Nice M engine. I've just ordered my replacement struts. By the way do you think the Dinnan bar is worth installing?

The Dinan bar was already installed when I got the car. I could not tell you how much of a difference it makes. My understanding is the E39 chassis is really strong so I dont think any strut bar would make much of an improvement outside of heavy track use. It sure looks good though :)

@@NoGaragE30 It does look good. So does the twin air intakes, Vs only one for the 540i.
