Has anyone found out the part numbers of the screws and acceptors for the diffuser ? Help is much appreciated. I can’t find them nowhere
@E39Source6 ай бұрын
You can use 51118174185 where the diffuser meets the bumper at the bottom. For the sides, you'll need small self-tapping screws. The factory ones were a 7mm head. BMW never published the part numbers for this hardware, so I usually go through my spare fasteners until I find parts that fit if the original ones were missing.

HI Ryan, how do you get the diffuser to detach from the slotted holes in the bumper? The clips on my diffuser don't want to let go?
@lucrativestance Жыл бұрын
Just curious those 9 rivets you mentioned that connect the rear bumper cover to the metal bar, are they the same ones that are in the rear fender liner? The 3 on each side? I can't seem to verify it on real oem.

Yes they are, the ones that end in -185

This vid saved my day! My two middle sensors stopped working and that meant bumper removal. The very last of the 5 series had a plastic trim in the centre of the bumper as well and not just the corners which mine has which clearly means BMW knew the difficulty of rear inner PDC removal. My M5's radio / cd has stopped working, the fuses are ok and the sat nav works any ideas? Many thanks.
@E39Source10 жыл бұрын
Happy to help! So no FM/AM or CD? Sounds like the radio module. I recommend you upgrade to a BM53 radio. I have a video that involves adding the BM53 radio and BMW SIRIUS XM to my 2000 M5, please reference that!

I've been chasing little bubbles around that car for two years. That's set to be fixed as well as the final jack point this fall. It'll be another $1,000 ish, but then I'll be mostly rust free.

hi ryan i bought a 97 540i m5 rep last week. The back bumper needs re painted so i will be removing it shortly. When you put the car into reverse there is a bleep noise but there is no pdc button above the cup holders. Is this a poor retrofit? or is it factory. I say poor because it does not always engage so i cannot rely on it!

What are the two metal poles on the bumper? (he was calling them bumper stunts )
@E39Source5 жыл бұрын
Those are bumper struts* that would help absorb an impact if you get hit from behind.
@josereal42005 жыл бұрын
E39Source, LLC do you think I can buy a single strut or do I have to buy the whole rear bumper.....I’m asking because my dad drilled a hole (idk why he did that ) in a strut and liquid squirted out ,and I dont know what will happen if I connect the battery and try starting the car, please let me know
@E39Source5 жыл бұрын
@@josereal4200 You could probably get away with replacing just a strut if the bumper and carrier is still in good condition. The car won't know that there is a hole in the strut, but that can absolutely be a safety hazard in the event of an accident. I would just replace that strut.
@josereal42005 жыл бұрын
E39Source, LLC I also need help with my 2003 530i (e39). It does not want to charge , I already checked EVERY fuse ,replaced the battery, and got a new alternator, and I also literally checked all of the wires and there was no shorts. My only option right now is to register the new battery that I got because I never registered it. Or to relocate a new ground. Please let me know cause I want to get this car running ASAP
@E39Source5 жыл бұрын
@@josereal4200 That is very bizarre. Something must be wrong, a fuse in the wrong spot, one missing, etc. Or a bad ground. I don't know of anything else that could cause this.

My car didn't come with PDC, but I have been offered a bumper and rear PDC system. Would my car have the holes in the metal through which I would feed the sensor cables? Awesome channel by the way - have subscribed :)
@E39Source7 жыл бұрын
You only need holes for the front sensors, the rear metal bumper doesn't need any holes. Your car's front metal bumper won't have the holes from factory, but you could affordably find one online that does have the holes and swap them if you want the front sensors too.

E39Source so for my understanding all I need is buy an M rear bumper with re use my old bumper support came on my non sport bumper & snap it in ??

You'll need the lower diffuser as well, but I think the guides should work with the M bumper. So it would just slide on the rear and bolt in.

E39Source what would you recommend buying it from ? A good replica quality bumper PP ?
@E39Source8 жыл бұрын
I don't recommend replica parts. They're by definition fake knock-offs. However, if an OE part is not in the budget, I would go with an Umnitza.
