A good informative video , but I do have a couple of constructive criticisms, 1 please put the axle stands under your car properly , the way you had them , facing from back to front , if the jack gives way the car will drop onto the axle stands and they will slip sideways on the rear arms and the car will fall.safety first 2 please don't use a screwdriver as a chisel/punch its a good way to hurt yourself .chisels and punches are designed for a certain job 👍 Apart from that you did a good job , and I am very impressed with the bearing puller kit

Thank you. FYI, my socket for the wheel nut was chamfered and kept slipping off the nut. I had to grind off the chamfered area to get it to stay on.
@kkampy40524 жыл бұрын
They all seem to be that way. If you have a helper, have them hold the socket on the nut. If not, I have wedged a cold chisel under the socket to keep it from dropping down.

Yes, you don't need bearing separator puller, but you still need Wheel Hub Drive Bearing Removal Install Service Tool Kit

How'd you get the axles back in?
@mikes.garage2 жыл бұрын
Reverse the steps.
@dasfahrer81872 жыл бұрын
@@mikes.garage Let me ask something more specific. Did your axle ease in to the hub with just a few taps? I ended out having to take the trailing arm completely off, put it in a vise and whack on the axle with a 3lb dead-blow hammer for a couple of hours to get it in far enough to show threads.
@mikes.garage2 жыл бұрын
you need to clean all the teeth on the axel and lubricate them. Maybe replace hub.
@dasfahrer81872 жыл бұрын
@@mikes.garage I did all of that. The hub was new. Buying an axle puller tool for the other side. Not going to go thru all of that again lol.

Very helpful video, does the bearing HAVE to be replaced if I just need a new hub? Long story short one of the bolt holes for the lugs stripped. The wheel bearings on both sides of my 325i are fine, can I get away with just doing the hub bc the bolt holes stripped? Any help would be great
@mikes.garage4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! No, you don't need replace the bearing. Also you can press the hub back with the axle shaft, so you don't need bearing removal tool.

I almost changed the wheel bearing on my BMW e46, i did it in an authorized workshop. But I still have that bad bearing dot sound. What could be another problem?
@mikes.garage Жыл бұрын
That could be another side or bearing inside differential. You should let the workshop to diagnose the car and tell you what need to be replaced.

When you say 11:40 „Make sure it is all the way in“ where do I exact know if I met the correct Position? Should I do this until it doesnt go anymore? Thank you and greets from Germany :)
@mikes.garage5 жыл бұрын
As soon as you fill it, start to turn harder, this is correct position. Also there should be a place for locking ring. If it is not all the way in, locking ring will not be able to sit in place.
