In the original, the bmw company sells the hub together with the bearing for a reason, since no one can install it correctly and the bearing is installed only under the press, no hammer blows can be made, since you break the bearing back.

actually bmw sells it as two separate parts 33411093371 for the flange and 33411095652 for the bearing. you cant buy original part already assembled together

Quick note as I just finished this same job be sure to use a 3 jaw puller/press I was using a 2 jaw and it was vary difficult it install hub bearing so I got tired of it and went out and bought a 3 jaw puller and wow it went on almost like butter. Good luck

Great job, especially because you did without a press. Little hint: put the axle in a bag and then into the freezer for some hours before installing the bearing. That makes it easier to install.

At the end you can get a specific tool which attaches to the driveshaft threads via thin walled threaded collar, attaches to a thread which then goes through a receiver cup and can be used to pull the driveshaft splines into the hub in a controlled steady way.

if yall are wondering why bmw's are quoted so much for repairs, its cause they take 20 extra steps like this guy did with the removal of the swing arm to get to 4 lil bolts. more parts removed=more parts broken, example, that ball joint. for this job, all you need to remove is the braking system. (caliper, rotor, dust shield, and e-brake.) and can be done in 30 min if the parts aren't corroded too bad.

Man your bolts that hold that bearing appear to come out kind of easy. Mine are where I'm stuck just now. I'm gonna jack the car up further to make use of a breaker bar. I just hope they aren't as hard to remove as the front wheel bearing bolts.

How did you get the lower control arm back on after you reinstalled the wheel hub and bearing? Having a pain in the ass time putting the control arm back on the car and lining up all the bolts that hold it in place. Did you put the bolts back in on the lca in a certain process?
@TheultimateDIYmachine
@TheultimateDIYmachine 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I made it alone, and I remember it was a nightmare too...i used the floor jack to help me apply some pressure to lca while tightening bolts. The extra long bolt was first. Then the other two bolts, from rear to front side of the car. If you can use a couple extra hands i think that would be easier for you...however as I said I made it alone, it’s not impossible. Be patient and good luck!

@TheultimateDIYmachine
@TheultimateDIYmachine 4 жыл бұрын
Sascha B I don’t know, the thing is I read you can make a cheap guetto tool that would help you out (I was too busy and did not have time to do it): 1. Get a 27-mm Impact Socket, not the usual Chrome-Finish Socket because it is difficult to weld anything that is chrome-plated. 2. Go to local muffler shop (or do it yourself if you weld), they must weld the 27-mm Socket to a new 36-mm nut (the 12 point one). 3. Ground down the 12-point part with an Angle Grinder. That’s the BMW Home made tool You can slide it in place and while thightening you will able to reach the axle easily.
