As long as you change the oil early. This is the only thing that will kill a stock m52/54. Great video.

Thanks man excited to watch this. After I can make sure the engine would still function I wanna overhaul the cooling system on my 1999 Cutlass. It’s a cheaper car but I wanted to find some cooling system overhaul videos because they’re informative and very entertaining to me personally. I’m probably gonna have more into it than what it’s worth even without the labor costs for most of the work that’ll be done on it but I feel like it’s worth it because I wanna keep it running as opposed to scrapping it, especially because it only has 70K miles on it. I got it for free from my parents are for probably less than 4K I’ll have a car that’ll run for a long time, hopefully the engine block is all good and not cracked from a couple unstated risk factors.

Secret to not blowing your engine simplified: Buy a 120psi radiator cap, get rid of the OEM 200psi radiator cap that causes too much pressure in the system causing things to blow up.

That's a good idea but the pressure is typically 29psi not 200. German Auto Solutions sells a 17.5psi cap for this purpose. Just thought I would clarify so you don't get frustrated looking for a new radiator cap. Great thought though I am getting ready to do my system as well and plan to add this part to the list.

I already changed the water pump last year and last week, I changed my thermostat and expansion tank and when I did it, I needed to replace the seal in the hoses because some of them was broken after I removed them I recommand you to buy a seal kit

I like your plug on using FCP Euro to source parts when doing jobs like this but I don't consider what you did in your video a cooling system overhaul but rather a cooling system refresh. An overhaul is when you replace everything in your cooling system including the cooling system hard pipes and heater core hoses which are under the intake manifold. As miles creep up on your BMW it becomes prudent to replace those cooling system hard pipes as they become brittle and will break off where they mount into the engine block. I recently performed a cooling system overhaul on my BMW sourcing everything from FCP Euro.
