I finally did it today....really not that bad. If I did it again I think I could do it in 2.5 hours. Video was SUPER helpful. Weird how it rusts and that leads to some drippy rust stuff at the bottom and even the spark plugs rusting some. I used a tube with a portable vac and sucked out the well just in case.

Hey so I just used this video as a reference while replacing my plugs/coils. First off, great video guys I seriously appreciate the detailed info for each step. I want to leave a couple notes for other viewers who are doing this job in the future. First, the thin walled 14mm socket can be found at autozone if you don’t feel like ordering online, however the one i got was made by duralast and the rubber gasket inside the socket got stuck on the first spark plug I screwed in. This created a big headache, but luckily i was able to remove the gasket. My dad remarkably had another duralast 14mm socket with a better gasket design so i was able to complete the job. I’d recommend just ordering the proper socket online along with your plugs and coils to save the extra work. I also had a great deal of trouble finding an E15 and E18 torx socket. None of the stores in town had them, but luckily i was able to use a 12point socket (don’t remember the size) to remove those strut bolts. Lastly, these guys remove a lot more parts than necessary to replace plugs/coils. This is because they’re replacing the entire valve gasket. If you think you can get to the plugs/coils without removing some of the parts in this video then go ahead and try because you might be able to save yourself some time. Keep up the great work guys! I will be following closely as Im also in the process of going FBO on my 135i.

@@drivewrenchrepeat i bought mine yesterday. its a 135i convertible with 28,875 miles and has kw suspensions, 200 cell downpipe (sounds really deep and brutal, pops without mhd burble), wheel spacers. i already ordered a vrsf chargepipe kit. i have to say that this car runs so good and smooth that i currently dont know if i even wanna tune it.. it has tons of torque and power and is really loud. before buying it, i was thinking and doing research on how to tune this car for about a month.. but when i bought it and drove it home, i dont feel that it needs any tuning. i live in switzerland btw.

Great to hear that you're enjoying the car! Agreed that the car is great in its stock form. It's certainly an enjoyable car without requiring more boost. But I suspect you will have a hunger for more power and performance later down the line ;) We tuned it with MHD and it's a completely different beast!

Are the bolts for the strut brace considered single use, or did you re-use them during your re-installation?

We reused the strut brace bolts because they were in good condition. But would recommend replacing if they are old and rusted.

Where did you buy the elusive e15 torx socket? I can’t seem to find one anywhere

@The3eAtz I can't recall as it's been too long. It was probably years ago from harbor freight. Amazon seems to be selling one (search for "uxcell 1/2-inch Drive E15 Universal Spline Socket"), but I've never used it so I can't say if it's legit or not. If you have a 12 point 10mm socket, it may work as an alternative.

Ordered this spark plug kit from your link received the wrong spark plugs when you click the link it takes you to the exact parts that you used but they are not the ones that are in my car. I have a 2013 BMW 135 I N55 & I didn’t receive the platinum R8 spark plugs instead I received regular bosch R6 which is for a N54. Which is in the details that I should’ve checked on the website, but I didn’t. I assume that your direct link would provide me the right parts for my car

We link products to help the community, but I made a mistake for this one. No, I wouldn't use the spark plugs for the N54 and get the step colder instead.
