Thanks for the video. Very informative. May I suggest the K&N oil filter, as well as their other products. There is a built in torque nut on the end of the filter, eliminating the need for a wrench.

Been following the entire series. So much work and the car will bring smiles for many more years. '11 in LeMans here! Just finished M3 control arms and B14 adj. coilover suspension because my shocks and struts were absolutely kaput. The power on these cars is great but the handling is my favorite part. B14 is still fairly streetable.

Got basically the exact same car only DCT instead of 6 speed. Love it...not sure if you've got access to E85 in your area but that Stage 2+ E30 tune is noticeably quicker and well worth it. Chopped my muffler off and fully straight piped mine and it sounds absolutely GLORIOUS. Loud, but turns a lot of heads (in a good way) lol
@drivewrenchrepeat2 ай бұрын
I'm sure E85 tune is amazing, but no easy access to it in my area
@keenshot34822 ай бұрын
@@drivewrenchrepeatthat sucks. If you can get ahold of some one day try it, probably gives at least 10% more power, runs cleaner, cooler and safer, MHD vastly underrates it IMO. These cars are extremely competitive with cars most people probably perceive to be faster. Can't even count the number of LS powered cars, 392's/Hemis, other BMW's and even a GTR and a few exotics I've surprised the hell out of in the 135i.
@JasonJoyrides2 ай бұрын
Hey man, how is your throttle response with your DCT? Mine has a bit of lag right when you press the pedal. Been chasing a fix for it and no luck yet. MHD linear throttle mapping helped a little but I like the progressive throttle mapping better. xHP also helped a little when I removed creep but it is still noticeably there.
@keenshot34822 ай бұрын
@@JasonJoyrides mine feels pretty responsive in all modes honestly. Bms intake, catless DP, E30 tune, charge pipe, 7.5 inch vrsf intercooler, rogue trans mounts and filled motor mounts, along with a straight piped exhaust are the mods. I have reset adaptations for throttle and a few other things in mhd after every mode fwiw.
@JasonJoyrides2 ай бұрын
@@keenshot3482 I forgot to mention I also reset adaptations. It feels like a programming issue rather than mechanical. When I press the gas it's like the computer doesn't pick up on it for half a second. Glad yours is working properly though lol I'll keep looking for a solution for mine

I finally did it today....really not that bad. If I did it again I think I could do it in 2.5 hours. Video was SUPER helpful. Weird how it rusts and that leads to some drippy rust stuff at the bottom and even the spark plugs rusting some. I used a tube with a portable vac and sucked out the well just in case.

how well it works with calls? can you still use the CIC for that or does it interfere somehow
@drivewrenchrepeat2 ай бұрын
@flippy9133 The call quality with the mr12volt is not that great. But you can use the call function from the CIC and not forced to using mr12volt for calls. Once the call ends, it goes back to Apple Carplay mode so you don't have to manually switch back.

Soo good to see you get that working, about to buy a 2010 135i w fbo but same fear, id think its too dated after i buy it. I live in Au., hope i can get someone to upgrade me w apple car play! Also the screen in it is maybe 6in., did you fit a bigger screen in yours?
@drivewrenchrepeat2 ай бұрын
The screen is from factory and it’s 8.8” because it has navigation. Without the nav, you get the smaller screen (like with most bmws of this era). I’m not sure if mr12volt is compatible with the smaller screen. I’d check with them to make sure if you’re thinking about installing it.

@@TheAJsneakerhead The video should've covered all the pain points and things to watch out for. We really try to be thorough and point out all the details with our videos :) You'll just need to be super patient as many of the bolts on the DP may be seized and you'll need to cut them off (overwhelming for many ppl). Some bolts are hard to reach, so you'll need an assortment of socket extensions and universal joints.

Great video! The best check on a rotor if it looks OK is to check the thickness. It has a minimum thickness. Mine were in pretty good shape visually but when I checked the thickness, it was almost all the way down to the minimum. Good tool list. Certainly people can do it by hand without any kind of battery operated tools if they want to. That would save hundreds in tool costs if you’re on the cheap. Great comparison though.

This series is very helpful (at least for me), and I have some suggestions: 5:48 - You can remove these bolts from the top, but if that's not possible, don't fret. You can also unscrew two ASA screws (on each side) from the bottom - see 18:26 15:44 - You don't have to do this part. It's easier to just leave it as it is and lower the subframe slightly. Then you can unscrew it easily. This is the only way that works if your hands are big. 21:40 - Yeah, this is hard, especially on the driveway. I suggest you lift your car as high as you can. Then, turn your wheels all the way to the right and slide the left steering rod through the subframe. After that, turn your wheels all the way to the left and take out the subframe. It will take some struggle and wrestling with this thing, but after 10 minutes, you will have the subframe out and you will feel great. :D (believe me, you will)

I too have an M2 Comp with the same issue and reached out to Kubax 86. However, I was able to use a USB stick as it depends on the iDrive version and not what car you have (4 mins 27 sec). My version started with the letter O and was compatible with the USB method of transfer. Thank you so much for the upload and subsequent recommendation of Bimmer Remote Coding. It's disappointing that BMW will not update your iDrive software regardless of a payment offer and even more disappointing to see Apple Car Play both Fullscreen and 'STANDARD' in recent models.

It's safer to charge the battery first, then run the procedure without any charger connected to eliminate the risk of shorting something out. I've never had my battery go dead from running the bleed procedure or making software changes. But all my interior lights are LED & I have no iDrive or sunroof, everythings manual so probably less power drain than most cars.
