Now looking back... it might have been easier to just replace the entire wiring harness.... I bought a donor harness and was breaking out the harness by feature... This is now presenting a serious challenge because I would have to rip out the base audio harness from my existing main harness and layout the donor logic 7 audio harness in its place.... there is also an Australian lad who tapped into the existing base audio harness with his donor harness, although I think he still had to layout the other audio channel wiring that did not exist with the base audio harness also, question, did you have to cut up the carpets? It was extremely hard to access the audio harness buried under it, since the harness have to go across the car to the opposite side

In my case, the only option was to switch harnesses because I have to make both cars work. So essentially it was a double retrofit, base to Indy and Indy to base. I only made a small cut to the carpet where the ashtray would be, this is hidden under the centre console. The tricky part was to separate all the additional wiring from audio wiring, such as mulf, tcu, usb hub, tv etc

@@vysgarage Ha! Thanks! Looks like I just needed to make more cuts. 👍The donor harness I bought was also missing the power wire that supplied power to the logic 7 😑, so I will have to find that at a scrapyard before I could continue with this retrofit

Hello, I retrofitted a Combox Media to my Bmw e90 built in 06. My question is that since the old control unit has a different plug (white) and the new Combox has a black plug, can you re-pin the wiring 1 to 1? Thanks

I got a 2011 328i with a base and I got another Bmw 328i 2011 as well with the HiFI sound system, would it be direct plug and play. Also how did you code the system?

Hi If you move everything over including the wiring loom, then yes. You need to code the Idrive and add hifi option to it.

Also, the hifi car has Bluetooth, if I move all of that other stuff as well, should that also be a plug and play just need it coded in?

Hey Love ur retrofit videos, they been helping me a lot with my e92 with base audio that im currently working on retrofitting with logic 7. Tho i have a problem right now i dont now how to keep going and u seem like u know ur stuff pretty fucking well so i would appreciate it if u could help me out on this one. So basically i bought a xtrons android head unit and put it in with the new logic 7 soundsystem. The headunit is working but there is no sound yet. Im currently waiting for the fibre opic loops to put on the left over optical cables for the cd changer and 2 other optical ones that i dont have the parts to use them. But is it possible that i have to code something with this setup? Even tho i have a new headunit and no idrive? Would appreciate it very very much i dont know who to ask anymore. THANK YOU!

Hey, Thank for your message. Hk/L7 gets its sound signal via most/fibre optics. So you need to make sure you have fibre from head unit to the amp. Pm me via socials if you need any more help 👍🏻👍🏻
