BMW EGR Valve problem, identification and solution - solved

This is quite common problem with modern Diesel vehicles these days and that's EGR valve. In this case it's BMW X1 18XD with only 25K miles but the EGR valve has already played faulty. In most cases it's only a question of cleaning the valve as the debris from exhaust gases accumulate around the piston that is part of the valve causing issues when EGR valve needs to close or open. EGR valve is non-serviceable part and you should buy a new one, but in this video I am showing you that you can actually service it or clean it to bring it back to life.
Demounting is fairly easy, but for installation you need to use diagnostic device and re-tract the valve by -20%. If you will leave it open and will force it to install with help of the 2 screws on the side, you are in risk of bending the piston and creating damage that will result into purchasing new valve. Therefore I highly recommend to use diagnostic unit when installing this type of EGR valve.

My egr valve came in the fully closed position so just goes straight in on a 435d. Must have changed the design.

Hi guys.. hope you can guide me. I have an 18i (gasoline). After driving more than 150mi the "propulsion" error starts appearing and I can't exceed 2500rpm. After some time it just disappears without any action from my side.. BMW service hasn't found the root cause but my guess is that EGR could be the reason. This tool is not something they have?? do you think my assumption is right? thanks!!!

Hi guys...I having a coolant leakage issue with my 2018 X5 xDrive35d (engine N57T)...The dealer just explained that they "replaced the high pressure cooler Once 9/21/2022 under the recall and again 2/03/23 due to an internal seal failure of the high pressure cooler that replaced the previous visit. The main part of failure is the low pressure EGR cooler that has a coolant leak that has lead to fouling out and clogging the high pressure cooler and intake manifold." I don't see any documentation or videos mentioning that the X5 has 2 EGR coolers...Could you help me clarify this? In addition, I found that my model is covered by "N47T/N57T EGR COOLER: LTD WTY EXTENSION TO 10 YEARS WITHOUT MILEAGE LIMIT" would this warranty cover the "two" EGR coolers?...The dealer wants to charge USD$8,000 for the repair
