My daughter’s 535i had a sparadic phantom water leak on the left side engine bay. I just couldn’t find where the water was leaking from. After watching your vid, I determined that the tank sensor was leaking. I just ordered one from FCP. Thanks!

I filled up coolant this morning but every time I have to fill up once a month I think there is a leak I don’t know where my dad will take it to the mechanic and they will check it out and see what is wrong with it and fix it.

I know it’s been a while bro but which coolant do you suggest to use? Or what do you use? Is peak good?

I believe I used the European Peak coolant.

@@JohnsonMotorsports also, I don’t have any visual cracks on the reservoir but last night the gauge reached 250 so I opened the hood and saw coolant leaking from the reservoir could that be the reservoir being bad or can that be the thermostat not working which is building pressure which causes it to leak from the reservoir? I wish I can send you the video to show you what I’m talking about.

Really could be either. Do you have MHD? If so I would switch to Race cooling and see if the thermostat responds and keeps the cars temps down.

Gday Grant Thanks for yet more perfect content on the 535i My car is very similar to yours both in mods and in colour all be it im a few mods behind I have a leak in my expansion tank as well which I’ll have to change I also encountered two failures with water pumps. So I installed a 150 Davis Craig electric water pump whilst leaving the original pump in it situation still wired just used rubber caps to enclose either end packed with some grease Ps are you a Refrigeration Mechanic im sure I seen a set of gauges I one of your vid’s Regards Nigel

Hi Johnson, your work is always great. Was your rough idle problem solved? if yes then how? LPFP upgrade, VANOS Solenoids, or anything else?

Thanks, I appreciate the support. My rough idle was fixed with carbon cleaning, new plugs & coils and injector cleaning. I had to pull my injectors when i replaced my Valvetronics motor and I think cleaning the injector tips made the biggest impact.

What brakes have you got on the front of your car mate? My 535d reservoir is split too but a bit further round toward the pas tank. Going to be doing mine when BMW get the new one to me.

Do u have to open the fender liner? Can u come from the top and remove it?

I think your more likely to break the hose clips, but you can give it a try.

Yes, you can do it from the top. There is no need to take tire off or fender liner.

Yeah, you would definitely want to let the car cool down before attempting this job. 3 hours should be a good time frame.

@@198888joshua Topped off the tank and ran the bleed procedure. Start the ignition (not the car) and then hold down the accelerator pedal for around 5 seconds. You will hear the coolant pump start. Make sure the drivers seat belt is buckled and turn the heat to max heat but low fan.
