Pliars on a shock shaft? No f'ing way. OG Credentials revoked.
@justinmclees45255 жыл бұрын
Exactly this lol Years ago I watched a guy installing shocks and used pliers on the shaft which marked the shaft and then damaged the seals into he shock body = wrecked shock.
@jakegoldberg89415 жыл бұрын
How do you suggest holding it still?
@sgreer785 жыл бұрын
Jake Goldberg The proper way. With either an Allen key or a socket on the top of the shock shaft with a wrench or shock socket to loosen or tighten the top nut.

I’ve always thought that it was improper to use an impact on struts to remove the top mount. I’m sure this installer has installed 100 of shocks so I’m sure he would know if his process was detrimental to longevity. Love monoball upgrades. Really improves steering and braking feel.
@mperformance35025 жыл бұрын
In many aftermarket coilovers, it’s the only way to remove or tighten them.
@lanceboyle42552 жыл бұрын
It is absolutely the wrong procedure. Use a through ratchet or a socket with a cut-out to allow an Allen wrench to hold the shaft.

Yea that guy would not be working on my car. This vid is good enough reason why Matt should do these installs himself with the OG crew.

I’m sure they know what they are doing the guy doing the work just needs to give a f*** a bit more. I know he’s on the clock doing the work hence my comment about OG doing the install in house. Some of the work completed on the M2 in house was fantastic if not a bit of a learning curve but was very interesting to watch and very detailed.
@pogo4585 жыл бұрын
Justin Mclees The installer is the best in the business, maybe you missed the last time Matt used him.... Matt is just slowing him down
@justinmclees45255 жыл бұрын
@@pogo458 As I said in my previous post I am sure he knows what he is doing but it just comes across like he dosent care and he is obviously on the clock doing the job, If this was done in house the install would probably be spread over a few days with small details addressed and discussed. Just my opinion but its one of the reasons why I watch OG content.

@ObsessedGarage4 жыл бұрын
All big brakes make noise. It's part of the game. With CCBs, the squeaks generally come from pad material build-up. Using a pressure washer to blow out the brake area periodically makes a big difference.
