BMW F30 328i CABIN AIR FILTER INSTALL!

In this video for the F30 series, I unbox a cabin air filter and install it into my 2012 328i. The tools you will need for this will be a:
10mm socket (amzn.to/2s1XtuR)
T20 (amzn.to/2skixNS)
Trim removal tools (amzn.to/2s1ues3)

I replaced a new filter today but it still smells. I heard that if it still smells you have to spray a disinfectant spray. Do I spray that inside the filter housing?

There is probably some mildew or mold growing inside the AC pipes. So what you will need to do is spray some lysol into the intake (where the outside air is sucked into the car). This will be underneath the front panels under the hood (you will need to take them off to get to the fuse box/ brake fluid reservoir). Have the car on, and have it suck some of the lysol into the system and it should kill any mildew/ mold inside.

Matthew Wong I have the 2013 328i F30. Shouldn’t be under the passenger side filter area ? Like in this video? Is it the the vents behind the two infront grills of the BMW?

If you replaced the - engine intake air filter that would not do anything at all - if you replaced the cabin air filter (like in this video) and still have the smell then you have mold or mildew growing inside your AC pipes. And will need to kill it by Lysol. Simply changing the filter will not make the smell go away if you have growth inside your duct works. > the vent is NOT behind the two front grills in the BMW spraying there will suck it into the engine. > you will need to spray lysol into the AC intake (where your car HVAC unit sucks air in) this guy has a good video (its for an E90 BMW but its still exactly the same area) kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJPcd4SdbMp9fJo&frags=pl%2Cwn you will need to: 1. remove the cover panels (same method to get to the fuse box in the engine bay or brake fluid reservoir you need to undo the plastic bolts and take off the covers 2. find the HVAC intake (it should be underneath one of the panels deep down) 3. spray some lysol in and turn the unit on to draw the lysol into the car. This will coat the duct work with lysol and kill any remaining mildew or gross stuff growing inside.

Is the filter “only” in the passenger side? Is there another cabin filter somewhere else ?

On the F30 BMW body if you are Left Hand Drive like I am, then your cabin air filter will be located only on the passenger side.

Are you referring to the T20 or 10mm screws holding the under panel up? If you are you will need to make sure you have the right screw head, and fitting. If they are still stuck maybe try some PB blaster or any type of penetrating oil to loosen the screws up overnight. If after that they are still stuck, the only things I can think of is using a breaker bar to break it loose or take it into a shop to have someone help break it loose? Hope this helps! Update: For the T20 i would highly recommend not using just a T20 hand tool. I would definitely recommend using a socket wrench to break the screws loose.

Matthew Wong So I replaced the filter with a new one and the disgusting smell is still there!!! How can I fix it???
