Just wanted to say... BOOP! (started prepping my hubs today-kit came in last week! thanks!)
@JimNewton996 жыл бұрын
I was debating on this .. rotated my tires tonight for the first time. Dear lord what a pain in the ass. I even had the hanger tool from BMS. It seems cross threading would be super easy to do if you're impatient or a hack.. and the threads in the hub will eventually stretch. Studs it is...

About to install studs on my E46 M3. Went with 90mm studs at the rear (12mm spacers on my road wheels / 20mm spacers on my track wheels) and 82mm studs up front (15mm spacers on my road wheels / no spacers on my track wheels).

That grind that you hear from people sliding their wheels over the studs kills me. I have cars with and without wheel studs and I like being able to put the wheels on the BMW without grinding a pricey forged wheel over wheel studs.

Don't know about you but it's sticking out way too much for my liking but it will definitely make it easier to change tires.
@WHTMAN-ei7ik6 жыл бұрын
Muhammad Ali Reason it’s sticking out is since he wants to run spacers in the future and maybe wider wheels he went ahead and got longer studs so he doesn’t have to get them in the future! He’ll have different rims soon I’m guessing!!!
@GurdeepxSingh6 жыл бұрын
WHTMAN0815 wider wheels don't require longer studs. Now as for the spacers, yes you'd want longer studs for sure.

When doing this conversion, do wheel spacers need to be added? Or is it ready to go if one wants to keep the stock look? Thanks for your videos and insight.

Is there a good way to tell what length studs I should get? On Kies theres 65mm thru 90mm - I have aftermarket wheels (and won't be using spacers with these) so I'm not entirely sure which to go with

Started prepping mine for install today. I'd just put some kind of grease on the ends that are exposed to the elements so they don't rust.
@BSed31 Жыл бұрын
So a year later and I would not advise running these in colder climates with open ended lug nuts. Changed my wheels last week and 7 out of the 20 studs actually came out with the lug nut seized to the stud. It was a nightmare. Studs were rusted and corroded, lug nuts seized. I went though a CT winter with open ended nuts and I will not do that again. I might bail on the stud idea and remove them before winter and go back to wheel bolts. Haven't decided yet. FYI I did not put any sort of grease or protectant on the ends of the studs before winter, but maybe I should have.

Hi, it doesn't, but you shouldn't have any problem putting them on, just like if your car came with wheel studs :)
@KiesMotorsports6 жыл бұрын
You just have to make sure you get the right threading and size and you shouldn't have an issue

If you want to use spacers with bolts you just use longer bolts. Those studs are probably really dangerous sticking out like that.
@KiesMotorsports5 жыл бұрын
When the wheel is on, the danger is gone
@DennisKarlsson5 жыл бұрын
@@KiesMotorsports No, I see the studs are still sticking out after you put the wheel back on. Bolts are safer.

@ryancastro30175 жыл бұрын
If you use thread locker, it will be quite hard to get the studs off. The allen key will strip before it moves the stud
@hiphopsocnroc4 жыл бұрын
@@ryancastro3017 he said stealing your rims not your studs, lol, with the oem lugs there is a security feature built in, so you need a special key to remove the wheels.
