Such a beautiful car! Many people didn't like the F80 M3 when it was new but now I think they're realising what a fantastic car it is. It holds its own against the others. I love it!

Several things: - The M3 CS is actually a "M3 GTS" in the official registration documents, for insurance too. - People bash the "CS" because "too expensive" bla bla blah. But they never drove one. Drive one, back to back to others cars and you will be amazed. - The CS in the video has Pilot Super Sports, better suited for that wet weather. But you get a narrower front tires with the PSS, 255/35 R19 vs 265/35 R19 if you have the Cup2s. - The sound is amazing and it does not have the synthetic thingy to generate it, like the other M3s, etc. Was thinking about getting the MPE for it or an Akrapovic. No need. It sounds perfect as it is. Loud too when you want it. - It is amazingly frugal for its power. Between 9 and 12 liter/100 km for a mix of normal/sport driving and city/smaller roads/highway. - The wheels are bespoke, forged and a pain in the ass. Attract stones like a magnet and cost a fortune if you want a set for your winter tires as well.

I drove a CS a few times while working for BMW. I own an M2 but otherwise think BMW's slightly lost a step. I didn't much like the F80 / F82 in all its configurations, but the CS blew my mind. Truly an incredible machine hitting way above its weight class. Not justified by numbers, the CS needs to be experienced. One of the best cars to drive like you stole. Thank you BMW

I never write comments, but I have to, just this once. Henry - you are one of the best car journalists out there. I have steadily started watching this channel properly over the last couple of weeks and what a joy it has been. Originally I figured this channel was one of the many sub par car reviewing channels that seem to plague this platform, however I think it is safe to say that this channel is one of the few and far between 'sacred car channels' and I have grown to getting excited watching these pop up in my recommended tab. In fact, I have had to actually turn on notifications, something I absolutely never do, so that has got to be saying something. Stick at it - you are destined for greatness if you keep the momentum and quality as high as these videos and cheers for the content!

Mitchell Francis you are right e92 has timeless curves. The e30, e36 and e46 have a boxy design which is dated today. E92 is a modern classic and will need a couple more years till it’s appreciated. The f80 will look dated the second the new M comes out

Peter Hammer the reason why so many e30 even base 318 models are still being used in auto cross and in drift competitions the chassis is very good As for the power I get it is slow by modern standards but tell me of another NA 4 cal car pushing out more then 200hp the list is small That doesn’t make the engine at all bad in fact the engine on that e30 M3 is the s14 based on the m10 block witch can take so much boost it can make 1100hp at max

Wish you would've moved to the M4 models as BMW has. I know it's mentioned, but the sedan is the M3 and the M4 is the coupe in the F80/82 series. They're very similar but the sedan does feel slightly different to the coupe. Thanks for making this series, so well done.

Somehow the F80 M3 CS is the lesst desirable to me. E46 M3 CSL would be my top pick, but in the end I am happy with my E36 M3GT, even if I have modified it.

Peter Hammer my E36GT with Cup tires drives circles around CSLs :). Sorted suspension, two turbos and ceramic brakes. Overtook 3 of them in about a quarter of Spa Framcorchamps back in 2009. Video on youtube. I however have never driven a CSL but would live to, the sound from the airbox is Intoxicating. Had an E46M3 Cabrio back in 2006 with a carbon airbox. Sounded great, bought that one after seriously thinking of buying a CSL. Big mistake :/

CS in actuality probably has closer to 80-90WHP more than the GTS. they normally dyno around 440WHP and E9x dyno around 350WHP

Add: That said as I look at the lines of this car, even with the addition of two doors, it still looks like a more modern take on the E46 and the predecessors in between. Then we jump to the current model and you have to wonder, where did it all go wrong?

Amazing series. But for me it will always be the E30 M3. The 1426 races it won still stands as a world record. It's the pinnacle of driving: Pure, raw, and no electronic stuff holding you back. Knife between the teeth you go allout. If. IF you have the balls! I own one, and I drive it like I stole it. Then you get rewarded immensely...A feeling that all other M cars lack...

Interesting comment re: previous oem braking. The factory pads on the e30-e92 are great street pads. Track...not so much. Proper pads and fluid makes all the difference.

This is the first M3 that ended up being a work in progress, where the first years of it were pretty awful and only the last couple of years ended up as good cars.
