I bought the G310GS back in '17 and have many vids on my channel about it. Did several add on accessories to make it a more capable mini ADV bike. It was quite a nice bike to ride! (I have owned well over 25 bikes and scooters over the last 30 years, I am no expert, but definitely experienced ;-) ) This was a great vid on the G310 and goes to show how nice the not really a BMW entry level BMW is. If I had it to do all over again, I still would. And that says a lot. Great vid dude. 👍

The Miata of bikes. Nice to drive, quite cheap but easy to maintain and reliable quality, and you'll never go over the speed limit even if you rev the heck out of it. It gives you the impression of going fast, it sure does, but you'll never break any record with it. Lub the chain, make sure all the liquids are at the right levels, and you're good to go. But. As soon as you're a tad more experienced, you'll want more of everything: power, comfort, brakes, handling, etc. So if you expect to keep your first bike for 5 years or more, maybe think of going a category over. Cause that thing is a pain on the highway.

@@MiguelMedV My suggestion would be to steer away from this thing. Not that it ain’t good: it does what it’s intended to do quite well. But Good Lord, if we’re talking bang for bucks, there are way better options. It’s not comfortable, it’s buzzing a lot over 95 kph, it’s not not great on brakes, and nobody will buy it from you when you’re going to wish for more (yes, you will want more). And for all the minuses, it’s not even that great on gas. But if you insist, you got to ask for the coolant level history (it’s a common issue). Also make sure the clutch is fine, as it tends to break down easily. Look, the launch of this bike was postponed because there was quality issues with the supplier from India. You do what you want, it’s your money. But my advice: a big-4 simple and reliable rig. Don’t go for the posing Beemer logo just to look cool: it’s a “high price-low standards” product to maximize profits.
@MiguelMedV
@MiguelMedV 10 ай бұрын
@@jaybou007 I totally get what you mean, l personally didn't want it, I don't like BMW. But I compared it with the Honda CB300 and Yamaha MT-03, and I like that it's higher from the ground, has longer suspension travel, more assists, it's heavier and has decent mileage. So it's either this one or the other two I mentioned, but I'm not really short so I don't want a bike too small. Those are the reasons I'm aiming at this one, couldn't care less about BMW, I wish to buy it in full black. Ok then, coolant and clutch are the main issues, noted 👍🏼. I live in Uruguay (Argentina's sister) so I'll research how the service and such would be here 💪🏼...
@jaybou007
@jaybou007 10 ай бұрын
@@MiguelMedV Can I know why you restrain yourself to these three? It can’t be money because you can get muuuuuuch better for the same bucks. Is there a surtax on more CCs in Uruguay? Because I went to Montevideo and streets are not that tight. So you can go for a higher displacement. Is it because it’s your first rig?
@MiguelMedV
@MiguelMedV 9 ай бұрын
@@jaybou007 You've been to Montevideo!? That's crazy man! Yeah I'm your typical Ómnibus enjoyer but I wanna move around without relying only on buses. Ah no, I really don't want a bigger CC bike, I just wanna move freely while learning how to ride, so I need a beginner friendly. I've been researching more, and honestly the G310R looks so good that I'm even considering buying new now, that 3 year warranty ain't easy to overlook 👀. I need to look up how bike warranties work...

My revs take forever to settle from 3k to 1900, I took it to Bowker Motorrad in Preston Lancashire, they were next to useless. They rinsed me for £426 and allegedly gave it a 6000 mile service and replaced some pipes and filters, assuring me this would correct the problem. I returned it the next week still the same and they said they couldn't find anything wrong with it, so be warned about BOWKER BMW PRESTON further info on request

I love my 2023 bmwg310r. I use it primarily for commuting to work. I had mine lowered since I am 5'4". I installed a crash guard, Fender eliminator kit, new clutch and shift levers (from dropping it), a new gearshift lever, and added a windscreen and carbon fiber pieces to it. It's very easy to work on, reliable, and looks great. I ended up getting $500 store credit from Long Beach BMW, and a refund on my cmsp course. Did I mention they have a 3 year warranty and roadside assistance for 3 years? Can't beat that with any beginning bike out there!

@schoco847409
@schoco847409 11 ай бұрын
There will be days in Chicago where the temperature is below 0 F. Also - potentially days with a lot of snow. Chicago gets really cold during the winter. Definitely depends on how far you need to ride. Most days will be doable. Some will not.
@stafanator6442
@stafanator6442 8 ай бұрын
Also, have to consider storage options during the winter. Along with titling, registering, and getting your city 'sticker'. Street parking can possibly not be available if you are downtown, however it is a great way to commute and check out other neighborhoods that do have convenient street parking. Just remember you cannot split lanes!

I have a z650 that is just too big for me personally. I know there are many smaller women who ride them and love them. But for me if I can't pick it up, it's too big. I also have a Ninja 250 that I adore and it never ran right. it is not worth the effort and energy to repair. I don't want to give up on writing and I'm kind of excited about this bike. They do not make small CC motorcycles anymore unless you're talking about a dirt bike. I'm thinking about hitting the BMW dealership and taking a look.

I bought a 2023 BMW g310r for $4,712 out the door, 800 miles on it, so it's already broken in. It was a MSF training bike, so if anything, it has been stalled several times😂. Since it was never sold, it still has the 3 year warranty with road side assistance, and free tire replacement until 2026. Plus, the stuff that sold me that they include is $500 in free gear (enough for a BMW jacket and gloves) and a $350 mail in rebate. Take my money! New riders show them your MSF certificate, and you can get the same deal. This was in Long Beach, California. I'm not sure if they do that across the country or not. I know it can get up to 92 mph and still have some on the throttle but I wasn't trying to see how fast it could go. I only wanted to get it up to 80 from 65 after the cars behind me started to creep closer. I looked down and damn... look at that, 92mph. Sweet. Thought the bike couldn't get past 85mph. There was no issue going from 65 to 92mph. Now I have no basis for comparison, but the time it took to get it from 65 to 92 was a matter of seconds. If you are used to getting to 92mph in under 5 seconds, then yeah, I can see where some would say it takes a min to get to 80mph 😂. I'm about 6 foot tall at 175 pounds and my only thing with the size of the bike is it feels like my arms are to short almost as if the handle bars could be a little higher or ride height lower... not sure. Only put 2100 miles on it so my ass is still nooby AF.

After all these years and at last count around 30 motorcycles. Small displacement, Bikes are still my favorite to ride. These days this old man is either riding a 400cc Ducati, or a backward shifting 1967 hodaka Ace90 rebuilt by me in my retirement. You would be right that the ace is too slow to be safe lol but the Ducati does just fine. I love being able to bang out three shifts and only be going 80 miles an hour.
