Hi! I have a 2021 m340i and was wanting to keep the shutters open, but not remove them entirely (I like the look of them open behind my dual alt grilles). Can I do something similar by just removing the arms to the motor pully and not cutting each of the shutters, and just leave them in an open position?

Yes. Matter of fact the whole assembly comes off and u can just disconnect the motor completely. No cutting no damage. Take apart, unplug, put back parts, code if u must. Dont deal.

I have a 2022 m550i I just installed rktunes front mounts and cut my shutters but left the center flaps hoping this would be good but now I have CEL … I live in Melbourne FL rite off 192. I was wondering if you could give me some guidance with this one. The CEL is killing the vibe bro 😫

Someone recommended to just leave the two inner flaps and cut the others. Will that work? Will it leave a code?

Yes but you'd have to remove the complete shutter system. There's a few screws that hold the mechanism in place. Unfortunately you'd need to remove the bumper for this.

I'm still getting the check engine light. Arms are in and comes on immediately after clearing upon start up. Does the position of the motor while messing with it affect giving a code?

Came here because my flaps are broken, I was going to try to replace the flap and just found out removing it is an option. What’s the advantage or removing it and any downsides? More tiny rocks hitting your radiator?

More air flow for sure. I have never had a rock puncture issue or has anyone reported back. The look is also a main reason. These are useless in my opinion

Lock there is maybe a small Stone in the Flaps, that’s why the Flapmotor can’t close it, and make the Enginelight on 🤟

This let's more airflow into the engine bay. Most shutters are also known to go bad and stay closed restricting air intake. This delete ensures that never happens. Safety for performance

If you are having this problem with a newer model Bmw the dealer has a warranty on these 10 years 150k miles. So it’s free to fix. My mechanic told me take it to the dealer 🙌

Overtime the motor will gooyt due to constant opening and closing. Some motors lose the teeth in the gears.

Most likely your motor needs to be changed. Or it can be your shutter is stuck and won't allow the motor to turn!

The purpose of the flaps is to stay closed until it needs to be cooled down. Removing them would increase the time it takes to get heat.

@@93rak Hello, my friend. My shutters didn't open either. However, I used a small angle grinder to remove one blade on each side and then it was practically easy using the viedo instructions. After a while it was done!
