Timely info as I recently had a similar screw puncture on the meaty portion of the left rear tire. I ended up taking it to the local America's Tire who repaired it gratis, which was unexpected. I didn't watch them jack the car or make the repair, so I don't know if they did the plug and patch method, but it was done rather quickly while I waited. I prefer the patch-only method that necessitates removing the tire from the wheel. I've been monitoring the pressure and so far, the air pressure is holding.
