I had this car for 4 years 16 to 20. Then I changed to Porsche Panamera. After a year I regretted me now I have i8 again later model. It is amazing.

how do they work out mpg on a car like this? if you did just short trips of less than 22miles then you'd never use any fuel or just very long trips then the same mpg of and car with a 3 cylinder engine. i guess its a average of the both?

Normaly driven I have an average of 50 mpg. Longer stints over 200km/h on German Autobahn resulted in 31.

THIS FUEL ECONOMY IS FALSE ON i8 I HAVE A COUPE 2018 with 29000 miles & the car only does 33 mpg average. The electric is only 11 miles MAX, never ever goes above 13 miles on Fast Charge at BP, but finishes so quickly within 7-8 miles only with all other systems off and driving gently. I get 265 miles on 8 gallons , that's 33 mpg. I have been miss sold by BMW. So where is the 134 MPG Combined advertise??? Also Road TEST carried out by BMW Dealership only confirmed a maximum reading of 44 MPG . This is BMW Chobham. Peoplec should challenge BMW and there should be as many people together to make a cl;aim to demand everyones money back to the LOSS suffered plus compensation. If say 100 BMW i8 and many other BMW hybrid car owners got together we all will benefit off a repayment by BMW of the loss we all suffered plus compensation. I have all he evedence to start a claim. just need support with other owners, Look at BMW brouchure is says this is no ordinary motor car and they say it does 140 MPG combined., Its false mis selling info.

VERY DISAPPOINTED , BMW state this false figure of 140 MPG combined and even the editor says its imposible to achieve this but says its an impressive claim. How foolish to say that. Look on the video the middle average fuel readoing from the car comoputer only states 37.8 MPG so where is the false mis sold claim of 134 MPG or 140 MPG . this is wrong to mislead people with false data that can never ever be achieved.
