They should have offered more power or a different engine. The interior is also dated and materials simply don’t match the price. It’s a shame that BMW have failed to see the potential of this car and haven’t updated it properly.

I'm okay with hybrid, but 360ish hp from that? No. Should be 450hp at least. With the design like that, such a shame that the engine's so much underpowered.

I really love this car and wanted to make the leap from the current i8. I had hoped for more power but I am just not sure this is major enough change over the coupe. That said, its sexy as all hell!

Generic Memes yeah I understand what they wanted, which turned out to be utter failure . Not many people think about economy in a sports car, they think about performance and power. Carbon tub car with a fucking 3 cylinder, making less then 400 PS combined , jeeez... Just a shame what this car could have been, I was actually hoping it would be M1 successor... And yes... Sadly M division lost their way, making this 3 cylinder vacuum cleaner sound awesome, but failing with the in line sixes, where they suppose to be experts

I borrowed the i8 for a week from my friend whilst my 911 Turbo S was in for some electrical issue. I kindly gave him the key back and never looked back at the i8 again. It like marmite you either love it or hate it. Mine was the latter.

Beautiful once again, I realise it was a tech example but they really needed to put in the straight 6 engine to overcome that lack of exhilaration in terms of handling. Or make it RWD only so all the torque goes through the back and put some thicker tires on the front so the playfulness of RWD hides the lack of speed.

It’s a beautiful car but a 3 cylinder it’s a bit week!! It’s probably the fastest 3 cylinder to 60 4 seconds flat is not bad and the quarter mile on the i8 destroyed the standard M4. It does have a 3 cylinder but it doesn’t mean it sucks because it has one it has a electric motor combined people are complaining about 3 cylinder in a BMW. But the future is coming I won’t be surprised if Mclaren came out with a 3 cylinder hypercar look at the Project one it’s a 1 liter engine and it’s a hypercar. This i8 deserves more respect but BMW needs a M badge on this and set it on fire

As a day to day sports coupe for daily use the i8 is excellent and very under rated. The reality of Ferrari 458’s, 599’s,Porsche 911’s and Maserati’s

Sorry, hit the wrong icon mid sentence. The other manufacturers mentioned do make faster and more emotive cars but they are much more compromised for daily use. The i8 is not the last word in handling or feel but it is a very sophisticated piece of engineering and from personal experience is twice as fuel efficient as either of the 911’s I’ve had. The reality of 500 bhp plus sports cars is generally frustration in day to day use. You can’t get near their potential on anything but a track. The i8 is not perfect, but it is quick enough for public roads and after 8 months of ownership I hope to replace my current coupe with the updated model next year.

It seems this car got numbered a couple numbers too high. If this was the i6 nobody would complain? The i8 could incorporate the 2.0 liter 4 cylinder and/or more power from electricity, as they see fit. It seems like a really wonderful modern 911-ish thing (but lacking the feel, sadly...) for people who live in more urban environments. The headline to the video strikes me as very accurate. Great review, good car, well done!

mpasistasyalanci Spain is a lot more business-friendly than Greece. You can basically get a business visa and setup for Spain in a couple of days. I imagine that extends to little projects like a few days of filming. Also language and cost I imagine.

I don't know what to make of reviewer's comment regarding "numb handling" anymore -- short of the Porsche brand or uber-exotic mentioned here, it seems that we've transcended this whole notion of "steering feel" in the vast majority of modern cars. I can see "most" drivers appreciating a hybrid like this enjoying this car even though BMW as a whole don't seem to measure up to the "ultimate driving machine" for the past few years now, sans the price.
