For Christmas, I bought a Jazzy Elite ES mobility cart for my 84-year-old mother-in-law, only to find out that she could not get it out of her driveway. Because of the deep drainage gutters between the driveway and the street, the Jazzy will high center due to its 6 wheels and center drive. She lives on a curved road, so the gutter is curved. I thought that this might be a problem for this product, but because it is in sections, it uniformly filled in the gutter. It takes five of these to fit the whole drive way, as you install one at a time and bolt it to the road. Because of the curve, mine are not bolted together. These bridge Ramps now fill in that gutter to where she also has a much easier time getting her "Rolling Walker" across it. Her mail box is in a group of mail boxes 80 feet down her road, so she needs this bridge for daily use. For the money, this was cheap peace-of-mind for me and my wife. There is no snow in Florida, it is a 55+ community, and there is no building code against these ramps. Three houses on her street all have them neatly bolted in place, in the gutter at the end of their driveway.

I have a new Corvette Stingray and have a similar problem getting in the garage. It’s a little more difficult to angle into the garage. Do you think this would work if I approached it straight?
@PatsGarageOnline10 ай бұрын
It totally depends on how much clearance you will have between the top of the driveway curb ramp and the top of the concrete curb. I couldn't do that with my i8, but your Stingray may clear it. I moved away from that house and left the curb ramps so I can't provide any actual dimensions.
@mgrmln4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I'm interested as well. I have the Bridgit one as too. I love it and it actually allowed me to drive up a rather steep driveway straight on in my i8! My Gt-R is lowered so I still have to angle up in that but it simply would not have been possible otherwise without scraping.

Will the city start whining for you to remove these? Will this work if you have a very steep driveway?
@PatsGarageOnlineАй бұрын
@@jensz9360 I used these for several years without complaints. You'll have to see how your car reacts on a steep driveway with these, as I don't know if it will work or not without trying
@jensz9360Ай бұрын
@@PatsGarageOnline Yeah the thing is my driveway is very steep. It worries me when I am in garage and have to back out all the way down. I dont know if its better to back up the steep driveway or to go front first. The thing is at the top of the drive the garage is right there with maybe a 6ft space of flat surface before garage entrance. so no room to turn the car around. So If go up the drive nose first I have to go down backing up. Which is best in your opinion, backing up the drive or nose first? Thanks for response.

@jensz9360 I drive a car with 3 inches of clearance in the front and lots of clearance in the back. I've had success backing up steep driveways but that's my specific car. But what solution works for a higher road and a lower driveway? Where the slope is down towards the garage and the low clearance car scrapes going in because it basically teeters on the sidewalk/driveway edge for a second before driving further?

That's a tough position to be in. It would seem the only solution would be to have the surfaces modified so there was less of a peak. I'm not an engineer so it's just a thought.

@PatsGarageOnline4 жыл бұрын
My curb ramps are 2.5" high in the middle. I did not have a choice of height options when I purchased my curb ramps. So, I bought these and gave them a try and they work pretty well. I have about 4" of clearance in the front of my cars, at the lowest point. The Corvette is similar so I believe it will work if you have a 4" high rolled curb.

Thanks Pat! I'm curious what you think over time. Our Bridgit has been pretty good although they do move a little from time to time. The feel in car is soooo much better. I believe our curb might be a bit more angular than yours maybe? The Bridgit is really for a rolled curb but seems to work pretty well. Great video! Franny
@PatsGarageOnline4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Mine also moves a little. I needed to adjust them a tad since I installed them 4 days ago. My heavy truck is likely making them move more than the cars. But, I'll keep an eye on them. I think these are also better for a rolled curb but they still feel really good. I have to remove them when it snows. As you can see, I live on a somewhat busy 30MPH street, so it gets plowed often and these would get pushed down the road. LOL!
@jamess45352 жыл бұрын
As a side note, dimensionally the Bridgit product and this one are almost identical including the rear curvature. The only reason this one appears flatter is because of Pat's longer flatter curb entrance. I do agree that the Bridgit product is a little more substantial (mainly because the end pieces are beveled) but I couldn't justify spending the extra cash just to get 5. It's been a life-saver (or should I say, front air-dam saver) for my Porsche 911 Turbo.

Alternatively, you could install a modest lift kit to your low vehicles’ suspension. I like this driveway solution all but for the need to remove a 200 lb dirty object every time roadwork like snow scraping vehicles need to access the pavement.
@TheBynirn3 жыл бұрын
Adding a lift kit completely gets rid of the reason why many cars are low in the first place, the lower you are the better your aerodynamics and handling.
