Love your videos! I'm the proud new owner of a '57 slider which I recently purchased from the 91 year old original owner. He took meticulous care of his beloved Isetta. He recently decided it was time to find a new caretaker for his baby, gave me first crack. Lucky me! Great car but needs a few things. This is my first Isetta and I'm learning a lot from you. Thanks for posting and keep 'em coming!

Once upon a time I had an NSU Prima 5 scooter. It was also using dynastart device that looks remarkably similar, with cooling fan and everything, although somewhat smaller. I suspect that was the main reason why many Prima's ended in the scrapyard - and why I was able to buy one used for about $30. It was (in my opinion) the design flaw - in order to gain access to the dynastart, the whole engine must be removed from the chassis. Electric equipment on old vehicles is not particularly reliable, and when someone must remove the whole engine every time there was an issue, it can get boring pretty quickly.

I'd love to have that black DKW. They seem to be well built cars. I know they have good performance. That is a nice Isetta but the engines are just so tiny in them. To me the DKW or an old 2 stroke Saab has the power to be a practical car. While not micro cars i am a bit partial to the Panard. The defunct French 2 cylinder 4 stroke boxer engined cars. I think in all honesty the early Honda models with air cooled twins would be right up my alley. Especially the little sports car that transfers power to the rear wheels via chains.
@zOiNhUh4 жыл бұрын
Once I did a rough calculation and came to the conclusion that some beach-buggy could be "usable" with a 250cc thumper from Honda, so I'm sure most of their twins would also be a good choice for a reasonably-sized all-around commuter

I absolutely love your videos on the Isetta! A year ago I bought a 56 bubble window. I was nervous about getting it, I just had so little experience with them. But your videos have been excellent! We are restoring it now. And I'm so happy that it has a starter generator just like a turbine engine! So futuristic! Oh and a side note, thank you so much for doing the one about the autozam AZ 1. I've been thinking about getting one of those cars for a while, but after seeing how hard they are to work on I think I'll stick with my citreon and Isetta!

I have always wanted one. In the late 1950's and early 1960's they were almost plentiful the streets of the greater Los Angeles area. I never saw any on the Freeways; a wise decision. It appeared to my young self that there more than five times as many two door, twin cylinder models as there were the singles. They beat walking, but otherwise are pretty useless. I still want a single.

HubNut is a hero, however excruciating his repair and/or maintenance videos are, he does incredibly well by keeping obsolete cars in use.
