I’ve owned both an M5 as well as my current car, a cls63 amg, and honestly I’ve never had an experience like the one I’ve gotten from my AMG. It’s just brutal. Even as a daily driver, never gets old. The BMW just felt too tamed and very clean cut. Personally I like cars with more personality and that’s what AMG is

BMW went kinda soft in recent years, I think they do the complete opposite to what they did back in the E36-E46 times. Back then, not only the "M" models, but the regular ones were very nice driver's cars. I have a E36 328i convertible from '97 with a few mods, about 230hp, and with a decat exhaust it provides so much driving pleasure. When it revs up to about 3500, it releases that beautiful straight-6 noise, it really turns heads, even though it's a completely stock-looking car dark (Boston Grün) green car. But you don't even have to go that far, I've driven a '98 320i Touring not so long ago for a few days. Straight-6, but only 150hp, completely stock, yet it is also very nice to drive compared to most cars, the suspension is still spot-on. When I use my convertible, I often think about what the M3 could be like (I mean the Euro 3.2l version with 320-ish hp), when my 28i already passes Subaru BRZs on the mountain roads (I really did, MX-5s and BRZs are eaten for breakfast), and provides great fun while doing it. Even their 20i engine was a great-sounding engine with Vanos back in the nineties (and the early 2000s). So what do we have now? We had the original M2, which had the N55 straight-6 single turbo engine. It sounds great, maybe not as great as the old N/A engines, but it resembles them. I haven't driven one but there is one in our street so I can hear it quite often. And then they released the M2 Competition, which they replaced the N55 M2 with, and it has the S55, which is also found in the F30 M3. More powerful, sure, by about 60hp, but in my opinion it sounds like garbage, just like the M3/M4, especially compared to their AMG rivals. All that engine does is farts from the exhaust. I've seen 4cyl engines that sound more interesting, and sound is a very important factor in driving pleasure. The involvement is also way worse, you can't feel what you're doing, at least it's what everyone says. The regular models have more and more boring engines, and even the "M" models are not good enough for what they are. Of course we can't have the analogue feeling these older cars provided, since new cars have to be full of electronics and also weigh more thanks to them, but at least they could try. They have the image they built up back in the day, but the new cars just don't do them justice. Even the new 8-series is a disappointment for me in a way. It is an amazing car, and it's very nice to see an 8-series in the lineup after so many years, but everyone wanted a V12. The M8 will not have the V12 because the weight distribution would not be as good - that is very much understandable. But the 8-series is a GT car, and therefore 1-2% more weight in the front wouldn't hurt the majority of buyers - an M860i with the M760Li's V12 engine would most likely sell among enthusiasts. They just don't care, even though they have the engine already built into the 7-series on the same platform.

AMG is only for posing. Here in Germany no one drives a C63, CLA, A45 or E63 on Track. They only for Driving on the Streets. Look at the Nordschleife. No C63S Taxi oder Tracktool but so often BMW M3 or M4, No E63, but M5, only the GTR is doing its thing. Same as Audi. Quattro, too much understeer, C63 engine is too big and massiv to perform well. You have to drive them on Track 🤷🏻‍♂️

I had 4-5 BMW’s and drove a handful of quick cars. The AMG 507 I owned was the only car where the head rest was actually used. The acceleration was brutal. So was the gas consumption, never got more than 200km’s to a tank.

BMW is certainly my favorite, especially the classics, but I appreciate a lot of Mercedes as well. Imo a drivers car isn't made by lap times, it's driver engagement and communication. For example the Nissan GTR has great numbers, but is a terrible drivers car speaking from experience.

V12ish It definitely can be. Look at miatas those things aren’t speed monsters but they are some of the best cars to drive on a track and you will have more fun in those than in many other higher end cars. Just because it’s fast and is a performance monster doesn’t mean you’re driving experience is going to be great. A lot of cars are fun when driving fast but you quickly catch on to how uncomfortable they actually are and how it’s not always a great time. If you sat down in a GTR you would obviously think it’s the best most fun experience ever because you don’t own it or daily drive it or anything and would only drive it for a short amount of time. Compared to someone who owns one, it would probably result that there are much more fun cars out there for a much lower price.

I know you americans dont really care about the Formula 1 competition but that is where you see who really dominates in terms of performance and Mercedes has been on top of that game for years now. Their competitor when it comes to racing is Ferrari. BMW is nowhere near. Sure, Mercedes also makes crappy cars such as the B Class or the "Smart" or the Sprinter...but when it comes to real racing competitions not marketing stunts, Mercedes is and stays BOSS !

This is why I say people sleep on Audi. Forget BMW and their lack of motorsports. Look up videos for the R18 e-tron quattro. That thing would give an F1 car a run for it's money. And let's not forget, the R18 runs for 24 hours unlike an F1 Merc. I know that Audi and Porsche don't race in WEC anymore, but when they did, they were both a force to be reckoned with. Look up the battles between the Audi R18 and the Porsche 919, that's exciting racing. Unlike F1 where there's like one overtake per race.

@@gf7637 There are some great models from BMW and Audi which I love and also MB unfortunately made some not really great models, but generally speaking, throughout the history of the automakers, no brand can match the legacy and the quality of Mercedes. I have owned different cars, I'm not being biased, but sitting in a Mercedes and just taking a moment to admire it, all the details and the feel of the materials, the ride quality and everything, it's simply a notch above anything else. When you consider the wholesomeness of the automobile, you see that not everything is about performance, looks and features

@@bornakapac9266 i just read ur other comment and i got what u try to say. unfortunately u are wrong. mercedes isnt above the other 2, if so bmw is above the other two. but all in all they are pretty much the same, with mercedes and bmw being a bit better than audi. dont forget that mercedes had huge quality problems from 2001 till 2013! every car they produced in that period started to rust very quickly! and when it comes to infotainment or sound quality they also where behind till 2013! when it comes to quality there are many things to consider. are we talking about used materials, are we talkng about the finish? are we talking about exterior or interior quality? because mercedes defenetly looses in some of these compartments. when talkign about legacy and quality cars throughout history, bmw easily takes the cake. there are lists of most reliable cars for each year and bmw is together with toyota almost exclusevely in the top 5 and that since over 40 years.. mercedes doesnt even come in the top 10. remember these lists are for models, not brands as a whole. so i love mercedes, i owned one till last year actually. but saying they are above the other 2 german brands is just not true. they had many problems throughout history and even today they arent better.

Nice video man. I owned a 2009 C63 for a year before I sold it for a 2010 M3 coupe with DCT. I loved the C63, monstrous engine, great build quality overall, but the thing that was frustrating for me driving it fast was the gearbox, just a bit too slow to respond, especially on downshifts. For me the E92 M3 (the equivalent BMW) has aged better in terms of styling inside and out, and call me crazy but I like the sound of the small V8 better. 8800 rpm tune and a catless x pipe will do that lol. That said, I'd say the C63 makes a slightly better daily, due to all the torque and regular auto gearbox. Although the M3 rides a bit better with EDC. Anyway, thought you'd like to hear my 2 cents.

I have owned the V8 BMW M3, The turbo 6 M4, a BMW X5D, and currently own a twin turboV12 cl600. The V12 is awesome but nothing has come close to the experience of the V8 BMW. Not so much the fastest just the most enjoyment. I love how it looked drove and mostly how it sounded. 8,000 plus redline naturally aspirated! WOW. The turbo cars just not the same even if there is more power. My next ew car will be all electric. Probably a Rivian.

I'm also tall at 6'4" and that part isn't a problem. The seats however are tight. I'd go sit in one before you decide to go after buying one. I have a very slender build and the seats hug me.

I'm not a car girl by no means. I got my 97' 328i for $600.00 from a salvage yard. (He got it as a package deal) anyhow I've had the car for 2 years now with no issues. The BF bought halos to replace the original headlights. Randomly last night. My low beams went out. *low beam failure*. I need to fix this, it has now become my only option until after winter. I own a 2014 C63. It's a great car, but has some cons. 1. The transmissions shifts. 2. The engine runs hot. My oil temp in FL is usually around 230F. 3. It eats rear tires. More so than the higher class cars. 4. The tires are too narrow. Needs 285s on the rear instead of the stock 255s. Engine sound is bar none!

The tune helped. It isn't terrible, but it also isn't super snappy. The zf 8 speed cars I've driven in BMW's are a lot faster shifting if you have driven one to compare

I have watched multiple battles on the track between a BMW M3 (E92) and the Mercedes C63 AMG and in a drag race, the AMG wins by a small margin every time. However, around the track, the AMG back end goes all over the place! The M3 has superior grip around the bends/corners...even with under steer, less torque and less BHP. Both cars have their merits for sure but I'll stick to my M3

@@peakperformance8960 yes i have drove both on the track and on the road and the mercedes is fun to drive as you can easily lit up the rear tyres drift and have blast on the track and im not just a fanboy of bmw i like both brands as they both have great driving cars as iv driven many mercedes and bmws old and new both cars are amazing id have that mercedes over most cars but the bmw has a nicer interior and looks better and sleaker im not hatting on the merc because the sound that that has is un beatable i hear that start up every day and see it every day cuz next door has a black one and iv seen that it has fake exaust tips that arnt connected and but the bmw has real ones and better build quality but i do love that new me4cedes gt4door and i love mercedes cars and i went to spain for f1 races suporting the peturonas mercedes lewis hamilton so id rather have a mercedes over any farrie or bmw espechialy the new mercedes look verry nice

Katy Klassmeyer just consider maintenance of course. The major thing is the front rotors and pads can be pretty expensive, the drive belt are prone to popping so make sure you replace them other than that they are very reliable in my experience I love these cars

The whole time I was watching I was like I hope you got gas! Owning this car was the first time I ever ran out of gas on the freeway. There is NO leeway with that gaslight. Likely to protect the internals
