It’s that time again… DRAG RACE TIME! We’ve got Mat’s new daily driver, the new BMW M3 Competition, going up against a tuned Nissan Silvia S15!
Think it’s pointless? Well trust us, this will be closer than you think! Starting off with Mat’s M3, it’s powered by a 3-litre twin-turbo straight-six which can produce 510hp & 650Nm. It drives the rear wheels only, and it’ll set you back about £75,000.
As for the Silvia, well it’s powered by a 2.1-litre 4 cylinder that’ll put down 600hp and 700Nm of torque. However, having bought the car for about £10,000, the owner’s spent about £65,000 on the build, so it’s also effectively cost him £75,000!

Hello Matt, I remember just this very week where you said, in a recent drag race video, we should comment what other tests you want us to suggest for you to do , so here are my 2 suggestions: 1. 0-100-0 test 2 . Do a U-turn race where you do a 1/2 mile drag race then after passing the half mile you brake as hard as you can and turn around and floor it , the winner is the first person to come back and cross the starting line.

@hon solo It's an unfair advantage due to the fact that Matt knows exactly when he will say go, and the other driver(s) in the race do not. Also, there's a small time delay when transmitting a radio message so everyone else will hear it a fraction of a second later, even if they're nearby

Also regardless of the fact that Matt has the slight advantage in the countdown, it’s too insignificant to change the outcome of the race. Yeah i always wanted a S15, but they are just too hard to get and they cost a lot to get a good tuner to build them up to this level. You can get a new ecoboost Mustang and have a similar style car for less and it will be more reliable (initially at least). The tune upto to 400HP fairly easily, but the block isnt as strong as a silvia block.

Also "trying to brake hard while cornering", anyone into cars knows you only have so much grip and you have to divide a portion to braking and a portion to turning, Many driving schools will tell you to only brake without turning until you get to your corner entry speed, then once at the corner entrance you are rarely on the brakes at all (except maybe trail braking if need be) but you won't be braking hard AND cornering hard, its one or the other. If you're still trying very hard to slow down as you're already into a corner that means you overcooked the braking zone because you're "still learning". I've had cars with and without ABS, I like and understand the benefits of both. Car enthusiasts (like people who watch car based youtube videos allot perhaps) can get by without ABS 99% of the time if you understand the limits of grip... say if you came from riding motorbikes aswell as cars (bikes haven't had ABS until very recently and you are VERY aware of grip limits). As such you can learn that when you start skidding quickly let off and then reapply gradually, The ability to feel and control that grip is a benefit... IF you are capable. The other billions of people in the world who are not car enthusiasts won't understand this stuff, will just panic and slam on the brakes, In which case the car is typicaly smarter than the average joe which is why ABS is so helpful. It's traction control in reverse (quite literally using the same wheel sensors).

I'm not a super ultra car guy who goes to car meets etc BUT one of the nicest done up cars I've ever seen was a Nissan Silvia in Melbourne Australia. Clean polished light blue with tasteful Japanese stickers on the taillight. It was just so clean. Lovely cars

God I miss manual gearbox’, I could feel all of the shifts when nissan was pulling away on a rolling race. Imagine drifting it around the turn, taking it out of the gear, getting into drift, downshifting and then playing with the throttle while having Good Times Bad Times on…

All things considered, I respect how polite was Luke was. That Nissan Silvia S15 is beautiful. The microphone didn't quite pick up the exhaust sound and bass of the Silvia correctly though.

Hello Matt, I remember just this very week where you said, in a recent drag race video, we should comment what other tests you want us to suggest for you to do , so here are my 2 suggestions: 1. 0-100-0 test 2 . Do a U-turn race where you do a 1/2 mile drag race then after passing the half mile you brake as hard as you can and turn around and floor it , the winner is the first person to come back and cross the starting line.

I'm absolutely loving these modified cars in the videos. It's by far far far my favourite kind of video. Please see if you can find a stage 2 Audi S8 or RS7. They are absolute monsters at 800-900 hp, and so unassuming. They also sound insane! I've seen an 2015 S8 wipe the floor with a Tesla P90D Ludicrous mode over and over, and the luxury in the S8 is so far ahead. Obv. Tesla has some cool original features too.
