Great car but I've heard the 2024 auto stop-start function can't be manually disabled. It's Off in Sport Mode but On in Comfort. I'm not sure I'd want a car that turns itself off at every stoplight. A minor detail admittedly, but one that could be annoying and frustrating.

Exactly. It's because of the mild hybrid

Wonderful package. Great engine, and sadly there is no more development on new ice motors, so this is as good as it gets, and it is!. My only comment is “no manual transmission”, so that makes my only choice the M3 base, if I want a 4 door sedan with a manual transmission. If they can put the manual on the Z4, they could do it on this as well. We’ll see.

I have a tuned 2020 m340 Honestly if you want a m340 than you care about performance and while it's a very quick car, we always want more Most m340 drivers will tune it If i didn't care about specs i would get a 330

I dont know what you mean that" it doesnt get the credit that it deserves", but this has been my wish for my next car. Though personally I'd end up tuning it to get it more "fruity" as they'd say lmao. but yeah its the best of all worlds, fast, daily, comfortable, "cheap" not cheap but cheaper than an M3, BETTER GRILL lmao
@ricochet4810 ай бұрын
Still trying to wrap my head around how this is $9K more than the M240i (when you add 19s and adaptive suspension for an apples to apples). You get 2 more doors, some more legroom, a mild hybrid, and a couple more luxury options. That should be $4K max. Seems like the coupe is a much better deal if you can get away with it, and the sedan market is just higher priced.
@bmwblog10 ай бұрын
Different cars though. IMO
@ricochet4810 ай бұрын
@@bmwblog Technically yes, but they are on the same platform with the same drivetrain. As noted the differences are minimal and don't seem to add up to $9K as noted. The extra space would be nice, but not $9K nice (and the M240i is slightly lighter and will handle a bit better).

Does the M240i or even the 230i RWD feel better in terms of steering feedback?
@blakeeverts707510 ай бұрын
I found the steering to be really lousy in this car, VSS was not predicable the way it loads in the corners, unlike the M2 and M3. The exterior is great though, hate idrive 8.
@bmwblog10 ай бұрын
Of course. The steering was supposed to be more numb. Softer. That was the idea
@blakeeverts707510 ай бұрын
@@bmwblog I just prefer the old days when all BMW's had great steering. I must be getting old, but the other brands do a much better job at making steering more direct and natural. A base Macan with a 4 cylinder comes to mind. The X3M40 to me has a much more natural and direct feeling rack, then the current M340.

One thing is for sure, B58 again sounds much nicer than the M3/M4. The previous gen S55 in the M3/4 sounded grotesque, and the latest motor still sounds too raspy.

Allow me to dispel the hype around the M light models somewhat. I had a 2022 G26 M440 GC XDrive and feel I can compare somewhat as I just received my G80 order. For one, the G80 steering feel is far superior. It isn't even close. Second, the manual option I opted for in my G80 makes it far more engaging/rewarding to drive quickly. So, while the B58 is unreal in its power and delivery, there is a very palpable and real distinction from the true M cars... especially if you know how to drive and like getting after it on some quieter roads.
@bmwblog10 ай бұрын
I don't think anyone disagrees. The question is: is this a better daily driver? Is this the smarter choice if you don't need the full blown M bits?

I'm sick of this 'everything in the screen' no buttons nonsense. There needs to be regulations requiring physical buttons for climate adjustment and volume since automakers are just doing this to appease the Chinese market.

3-5 taps is better than 1 press of a button or turn of a dial? It’s a safety issue. Tactile feel is better to operate when driving. It’s not progression, it’s regression.

I have the "ZTK" package with 374mm larger rotors and bigger calipers and so far I was not able to overheat them or have any brake fade. So the best M340i is with ZTK. Plus you have extra coolers.
