Is this the same for the m235i? I assume so since they both use the zf8

Yep! This is only for the manual, though.

@@ecstuning Oh shoot I didn't realize. Can you do one of these for the zf8??

What Allen head size do we need for the drain/fill plugs?
@TucsonDude3 жыл бұрын
If you're going to be doing this level of work, you should already own a hex socket set to begin with.

@@TucsonDude Sorry dude, I’m new at this. Another stupid question. Is it metric set or imperial I should be getting? Thanks

I have a question….being a bmw isn’t it recommended to drain the fluid then fill it up and get the transmission up to temperature then run thru all the gears then let it cool down for roughly 5 minutes and check if it needs refilling again? Or am I wrong? I plan on doing this to my 2011 x5 35i so any helpful advise would be appreciated. Thank you
@ecstuning3 жыл бұрын
No need to do that for a manual transmission. Just make sure it is level when filling with fluid.

@@ecstuning ohhhh ok!!! Awesome thank you for the reply! I will definitely take a look at you’re site for the transmission guild kit!
@TucsonDude3 жыл бұрын
I wondered this on my other cars, but I feared that some aeration in the fluid might expand it to the point that too much would drain out when I opened the fill plug. So, I just backed the car back and forth a few times. Then, rechecked the level.

How many miles is recommended for this service? Also anyone with manual B58 wanna share your transmission temps? Mine go above 212F.
@porschelover04 Жыл бұрын
I was unaware our transmissions have temp sensors, though I'd love to know how you can access that data.
@Based_F22 Жыл бұрын
@@porschelover04 I believe the service 'hidden' menu will display trans temp(look up a youtube video on how to access bmw's hidden menu). Better yet if you have a tuning software(I use MHD) you can easily monitor all temps and other information from your phone. If you're not tuned you can still use the tuning software for codes and monitoring without buying the map packs. You can also use "BimmerLink" which may be the cheaper option idk. Either way those are your options.

You can also get this data from using an obd Bluetooth module such as veepeak in conjunction with the BimmerLink app. Not sure on my temps, but I don’t think they were that high the last time I checked.
