I had to do this job recently, I didn't know that the actual camera could be removed so easily to disconnect the heating element, I did it all with just the front section removed! It will be much easier next time! I used pu adhesive to re-seal the camera, it seems to have worked. Huge thank you for sharing, you are very skilled. One little thing, apparently Germanium dust is rather toxic, so take care!

Hello! on your f06 it is extremely simple , that lens is made to be replaced , just pus a tab then twist the cover and is out

that's another great video, thank you for the information, i really like the full screen image of the night vision system.... I have an E60 5 series 2010, i retrofitted the night vision system, it's working, but not on full screen (it shows only in the center of the screen, as if i have a small screen instead of the full one). i know that it's most likely the coding and pin assignment (in the back of the CIC), but i cant figure out which pins to use to get the image to show on the full screen .... i also had to change the nigh vision WERT to 21 (NCS Expert coding of the CIC). any help is appreciated.

with cic night vision is not possible on full screen. only CCC. i have the same thing with my 2009 e60 with factory night vision and cic. it cant do full screen unfortunately.

Night vison 2 and 3 have a screw on lens which makes it so much easier

Hello, by the way, great video, thanks for it. I followed your instructions. The lens shines like a mirror, but still, there's hardly anything visible through it. If I remove the front cover with the lens and try it without it, the camera works fine. But as soon as I attach the camera lid, everything is completely foggy. What could be wrong?

Are you sure you need to tighten the screws holding the main lens? Isn't it meant to move a bit?

eu mi-am pus o camera frontala la f10 prinsa in grila de jos si ca sa o protejez i-am lipit o protectie de sticla pentru camere foto de telefon, este exact ca folia de sticla pentru display doar ca e rotunda, cred ca ar fi o idee buna si pentru camera de night vision doar ca trebuie cautata o dimensiune mai mare

Daca era asa de simplu nu mai exista aceasta problema! nu poti pune nimic in fata camerei, adica pot pune dar lentila trebuie sa fie facuta doar din anumte materiale, unu din ele fiind germaniu , camera asta nu e o camera video ca cea de la telefonul tau! e o camera termica care vede radiatiile inflarosu. pentru mai multe detalii Google!

My e60 night vision works but the display is just foggy and nothing can be seen. I have had the codes read and have the message ‘Night vision heating element failure.’ Can I replace the heating element? I have bought a new one from ebay but your great video doesn’t make it clear if it’s possible to swap it out. Thanks Sam

if lens is cracked, even after polish where will be no image right? mine wasnt so bad, so i just polished it without dissasembling, but still no clear image, it shows lighter, but well thats very hot

If the lens is cracked the water can enter inside of the camera, and water + electronics = everything else but not Love!

Salut. Am cumparat recent un f10 cu night vision. Chrome-ul grilelor e putin sarit si as vrea sa cumpar grilele de f10 mai nou, la care difera putin grilele. Intrebarea e daca pot muta suportul cu NV de pe grila mea 2010 pe cealalta grila 2014, ele ca si forma fiind la fel, incap in bara ambele modele la fel, doar grilajul difera putin. Deci intrebarea e daca pot pune sistemul pe o grila neprevazuta cu asa ceva? Merge mutat suportul/camera? Mersi frumos.

Hi, you might know what could be the problem with my NiVi. I have e65. I noticed recently that my image of NiVi is black. I have a good replacement lense installed some years ago, and it is still very good. So, I think the lense here for me this time is not the problem. I connected INPA and ISTA NVE and NVC do not have any errors. Everything seem fine. However, I tried to test patterns by INPA in NVC Activate section, and I noticed that no any pattern is showed. Previously I had clear images of horizontal, vertical and diagonal patterns when I selected them from INPA. But not this time. Do you think if wiring would be broken the diagnostics would show a problem, could it be that camera is not working and needs to be replaced. I understand that those test ptterns are generated by the NVC, and if there is nothing transmitted ro NVE module, then NVE just send to VM, or Navigation in my case, to show the image, but there is nothing. So I think there are two options. Whether my camera is damaged, and it does not show any image, or may be there is a broken video wire from NVC to NVE. What do you think could be the problem? No diagnostic trouble codes, just black screen... Regards, Ivo aka Cimdahers

@@MOvidiu mașina nu are de fabrica. Vreau sa pun sa am și opțiunea asta.... momentan are 4 opțiuni mai lipsește night vision. Mam interesat în mare.... știu ca trebuie sa fie pereche de pe mașina donatoare... mai știu și de modulu ce lai prezentat... care sa "mintă" nu știu ce... dar mașina are grile active.... trebuie sa renunț la ele... trebuie schimbat multe chestii. Ma întrebam cu codarea... sa fie și funcțională. Mi ciuda ca nu mai am numărul tău de telefon și trebuie sa scriu aici. Îl aveam întrecut... mai ajutat cu ceva la e39... piese de pe e38.... în fine asta ma interesează și ar mai fi perne de aer.... clima din plafon.... volan cu padele... bang olufsen... și cred ca atât. Unfortunately, I don't think so, this system is very rare! and not too many people know how this system is working, matter of fact even for most of the master techs this subject is Tabu! so there is not a big market for someone to make and sale this.

I got my new lens for 240€ , or you can get one without step for 70€ a lot of optics shops can make it for you, they are coated from both sides, outer side have stronger coating, i did the same polishing work, but vision is not the same , like with new lens.

Nice work! I think you could still protect it with a material that does not filter the IR spectrum. I think they use Ge as a filter in for the IR domain. If you would put any flat material in front of it which doesn't filter the IR band it should still work.
