What cracks me up is when people describe GS’s as “boring” - they are so refined, and versatile, that I don’t care is there’s more “exciting” bikes out there. A lot of the critics haven’t even ridden one and just parrot what others have said.

I tried one a few days ago in Lisbon. I can see why some will love it. Super easy to ride. Comfortable. Tech is awesome. But it’s not for me. My XR is much better for what I do. Far better engine and steering.

Very well made video. The machine in focus is a tremendous innovative move from BMW Motorrad and if the 1250 GS version was staying a little behind the closer competition by other brands, I personally think that the Brand nailed it with this new 1300 GS. I’ve had experience with those other machines of the Motorcycle competition referred on this video, and I can say generally that they are very good proposals. So, the biker that chooses for any of them will be very well served, but if we appreciate a premium “ do it all well” bike, for me it’s got to be the BMW 1300 GS. The proposal by Ducati the Multistrada V4 S might get problematic on longer rides by the heat coming towards the rider from the engine. The higher gas rates of consumption can be an issue too …And the uncomfortable heat disadvantage can be present on the KTM 1290 SAS or SAR and definitely on the SDGT, which has none off road capabilities, but shares the same engine of its Sisters. The Tiger 1200 GT is a very good option on this pack and it shows itself as a plausible alternative but in the design of the structure and on the good looks side, the bike has a not so modern image or aggressive in style as the others of the bunch, seems a notch outdated. There was noted a difficult connection of the keyless system with the key fob and slow awake processing of the electronic dashboard to get prompted when the bike is turned on, but I think these aren’t serious problems once it’s out on the open to the public that Triumph is addressing those matters in order to perfect their technology. Enjoyed very much the work here, so I subscribed the channel. Keep up the good Work and bring us more content like this. If of this marvelous BMW1300 GS, better. I’m really interested . Ride safe .👌🏻

Ultimate motorcycle? Very subjective. The Charlie and Ewan hype lives on. I hope BMW is cutting them in on the profits. The GS wasn't even their first choice. Lol

You’re right that it wasn’t their first choice, but having said that, exactly why did KTM refuse? Lack of confidence in them, or lack of confidence in their product? And you call it hype. Well, I went to many dealers searching for test rides on bikes I was interested in - various KTM’s, Hondas etc., NOTHING! and finally I went to BMW, in which I was treated like a human, not a sale. He said I could the 1250GSA for an HOUR. Yep, the only test ride I could get - and that was when I found the bike was perfect for my uses. It was smooth, refined and rode so well. And here in Australia has, by far the best warranty. 5 years, 3 years roadside assist (That’s an extra cost with Ducati) There’s two dealers within 15km, and a bloody good independent - Ducati is at least 25km away. With KTM you need to pay extra to unlock the bikes best features. Standard on BMW. You have to pay a subscription fee for turn by turn navigation on a KTM. Standard on BMW. With my GSA, it’s been the cheapest to accessorise, as most of it added out of the box. (You would expect it at the price, but look at the extortionate prices Ducati ask for the extras!)

@@martyn_g according to KTM, they lacked the confidence that Charlie and Ewan were capable. Of course we can theorize all we want, but that was the word from KTM. That's not too difficult to imagine though. Some pretty major rock groups were turned down by recording companies that I'm sure ended up kicking themselves later. Dealerships are definitely a variable and I can understand how they can make or break a sale. My experience with BMW was that I was all but ignored. I spent a considerable amount of time trying to get info and a test ride. I'd just finished work, so maybe it was the way I was dressed(?) Cost of ownership and some reliability issues turned me off of BMW. Don't get me wrong, it's a great bike, but the cult like following is undeniable. The Ducati, at least at the time, was too road focused for me and honestly, overpriced. The Rally V4S is incredible, but $$$$ KTM, I didn't find comfortable. That engine (1290) is magic, but reliability issues steered me away. The Pan America? I was on two Facebook pages for them and I wouldn't touch one with a ten foot pole. It also has a face only a mother could love. Just my opinion, of course, but sharing opinions is what we're doing here. The local Triumph dealer treated me like a human. The bike (not mine, but in general) has had some minor issues, that have been rectified. 3 year unlimited mileage warranty with roadside assistance and it's the most comfortable bike I've ever thrown a leg over. The induction sound of that engine is unbelievable, but you have to be riding it to hear it. The Tiger won a Guiness world record for continuous riding a year or so ago. As far as the dealership network, I believe Triumph actually have a few more dealerships in the US than BMW has. The new GS1300 seems like it was rushed to market. It has some pretty serious issues and their pricing has gone the way of Ducati. People are still wringing their hands and salivating over them. I don't get it. 🤷‍♂️

@@martyn_g you can spin it the way it suits you, but the word from KTM was that they lacked confidence in Charlie and Ewan. In either case, they would have had a support truck and there's magic in editing. I test rode a 1290. The only part I loved about it was the engine. I didn't find it comfortable and they don't have a great reputation for reliability. That's based on friends that have owned them and owner's pages on the internet. And now, they're starting to move production to a third party in China. My local BMW dealer treated me like I'd soiled my pants. I spent over an hour trying to get someone's attention for info and arrange a test ride. They weren't even busy. Perhaps it was the way I was dressed. Nice bike. Performed well. Not a fan of the sound of that engine or the boxer design in general. Having a low center of gravity is the best thing I can say about it. Persistent driveshaft issues (even after a redesign), electronic niggles, cost of ownership and the sheer width of it, put me off more than the dealership did. My local Triumph dealer treated me like a friend. Maybe I got lucky. Maybe it was my clothes. 🤷‍♂️ I test rode a Tiger 1200. Within ten minutes I was sold. 3 year unlimited mileage warranty with roadside assistance, free panniers and a 20% discount on parts and accessories for 12 months. As with just about every bike, the Tiger has had a couple of minor issues that have been rectified. The new GS 1300 however...yikes. obviously rushed to market. Numerous issues with that bike already, yet still people wring their hands and salivate over them. The cult following is undeniable. There's no question that a dealership can make or break a sale. Ducati? Nice, but overpriced and the Rally V4S wasn't released yet when I was in the market. The regular Multistrada was too road focused for me. Harley Davidson...where do I start. That was a hard no. And it has a face only a mother could love.
