I rode a new 2022 BMW Urban GS. Do you want to know what do I think about it ? So here comes my opinion , an opinion from a classic bike user. It's definitely not a review as I won't tell you any specs just my personal thoughts, honest opinion and how do I feel on that bike. And that opinion is coming from someone who is not the biggest BMW's fan and also someone who is not a fan of modern bikes in general. Interested? Stay here and watch the whole video.

Really liking the BMW white and M power colors on this one, and I agree, a fun bike to twist the throttle on, just right amount of pull!😃👌 One other great thing with it is if you like to take some dirt roads to a location, and no more dirty chain to clean.😁 Looking forward to see and hear what you will try more, and what bike you will go for in the end!👍

Awesome stuff LB, is a cracking bike, I was very tempted by the R9T when it first came out to replace my V7.... but it never happened. screens always cause wind noise I've found, is why I love naked bikes so much. Hope the trip is continuing to be splendid and you are having some good giggles? Was brill to finally meet you over at the ABR 🙂

And there in lies the problem! I have 3 naked bikes but bought a Tracer 7 for winter/touring and no matter what screen I put on it's annoying as hell! I've been 'adventurising' it as mush as you can with a 17" front but the bike outperforms the screen by about 40mph. There's no doubt that the screen offers way more weather protection but if it really less fatiguing when ones lid is copping all of the wind? My fatbob isn't great on the motorway but I can sit in blissful silence at 90 on the Monster. So I have been considering going from the Tracer to more of a naked scrambler.

Looks like you are smitten with the BMW. They sound lovely, similar to W800. Would you change the exhausts or was it loud enough for you?

I'd totally buy that bike just because of the way it looks. Even for a first bike (beginner). It may not be the best but that would be perfect for just cruising short distances on early Sunday mornings.

how many years have you had the W for? I think you should try a few Guzzis before settling on the bmw, more old school, more character is my personal opinion.
@UncleLongbeard
@UncleLongbeard 2 жыл бұрын
I started fifth year with the W. Not that long really but as much as I love that bike, I love plenty other bikes as well ;) And want to ride them all ;) Talking about the MG or BM or other bikes - I have enough of old school character in my garage still, so I'm more into something that is a bit less old school actually ;) We'll see

@@UncleLongbeard I cant picture you on anything more modern than the r nine t. it would be very strange. W800 is missing something after a while, grunt, character? something on top of the beauty. I got a big block guzzi after my w, one of the last ones from early 2000s, modern enough with twice the power of the w while still feeling retro, still feels like a real motorcycle. Maybe an indian? the scout? liquid cooled though... Good luck, cant wait to see what you settle on.
@UncleLongbeard
@UncleLongbeard 2 жыл бұрын
I think that r9t is the most modern bike I can get ;) W800 is still a great bike but indeed miss a bit of angry character. It is too good and smooth basically but I also need a change as there is loads of bike I would like to have in this world ;)

I dunno what it is about the RnineT scrambler which makes me find it such heavy steering. I have considered removing the steering damper but thats a bit cheeky on a demo 😄
@UncleLongbeard
@UncleLongbeard Жыл бұрын
I don't know what is your comparison bike. If some lightweight enduro - then there is no surprise about heavy scrambler. 60kg more on average. Compared to my W800 it's 20kg more but I can still feel it. Much heavier and heavy steering. However compared to a Harley or K1100 - it's a nimble bike ;)
@I_am_Thursday
@I_am_Thursday Жыл бұрын
@@UncleLongbeard No it's they feel heavy steering to the comparative weighted bike. Don't know why. Usually having a 19" front should make it turn in a bit better. EG, the Multi 950 seems more agile which should not be the case. IDKY.
@UncleLongbeard
@UncleLongbeard Жыл бұрын
@@I_am_Thursday ahh, OK. Then I would bet on steering damper. I mounted one on my W and since then it was more stable on long bends and straight roads but it started to feel less agile indeed, but it was just an impression, not the real lack of agility ;).

"pensioners' bike"? I'm 69 (and a "pensioner") and ride a 999S, ZX9R, Aprilia Tuono Factory, Husky 701 Supermoto, Bultaco 370 Pursang, Husky 701 Enduro, Husky TE250i, etc., etc....you get the point...but what was yours? BTW, I'm looking to add one of these Urban GS's to the stable as a fun backroader. Interesting review, but watch those assumptions!
@UncleLongbeard
@UncleLongbeard Жыл бұрын
hahaha, what I meant is mental "pensioners" if you know what I mean. Age has nothing to do with that. When you start saying that you can only ride comfortable machines - then you are the real pensioner ;) No matter if you are 35 or 95 ;)
