i am really enjoying the series on bike, am sure the tightness in engine will disappear once get oil and turning over, shame the rear shocks couldnt go the other way up but the little spacer was a nice simple solution,

Thank you. I had a chat with Hagon about flipping the shock. Unfortunately this design won’t work upside down. Really lovely guys at Hagon. I highly recommend them.

WM I’m thinking this is your first restoration and it’s a learning experience. It’s unfortunate the powder coaters didn’t say they can do it without removing the rubber molding. Just leave them silver or metallic. There is nothing wrong with having a bit or silver, chrome or bright finish. The classic BMW is looking just perfect. Don’t make it a garage queen. I’d definitely slap on the valve covers quick smart too.

Cheers steve. Yes first time restoring an old bike and plenty to learn. Sometimes you forget that you can’t just buy any part you like off the shelf. I assumed it would be easy to get new rubbers, but not the case. I actually prefer the unpowered pegs anyway. As you say, nothing wrong with a bit of metal showing. Thanks for the tip on getting the rocker covers back on. I’ll do that asap.

Always look forward to the next WM instalment......and wasn't disappointed. My preference would be to keep the OE handlebar mounted choke lever......it's sorta iconic IMHO.

Glad you enjoyed the video. Yesterday I picked up an old style airbox, so now I have three options for the choke 😅

Still lots to do but it will be worth it in the end for sure, better to take your time .😊

Cheers John. Plenty to get though, but the list is getting short. She’ll be done by Spring.

Really enjoying your project…must be tough in-between work and family commitments but progressing well..edging towards the finish line! That first start up will be interesting, I’m sure all will be fine given your attention to detail…fully recommend a ceramic coating to protect your investment and make life easier keeping it clean once on the road…atb, Alan.

Thanks Alan. Yes it’s important not to let things like this totally dominate your life (easy to do). It’s a balance but really enjoying each step.

OCD Alert, both rear foot pegs are facing the wrong way (a least the BMW does) - could they be swapped around?
@WildlifeMoto11 ай бұрын
I was wondering what way the BMW logo should go. Easy swap. Cheers.

Where did you have the instruments rebuilt?

I rebuilt those. There is a video on the channel.

Keep the Konis…. and refurbish, they’re actually really good shocks and fully serviceable. I’ve had them on a couple of Hondas, much improved.
@WildlifeMoto11 ай бұрын
Yes keep them and get them refurbished at some point. Not sure they’ll be as good as the Nitros though.
