Such a good job, loads of commitment and I imagine stress to complete the project and you're nearly there! Well done you.

I always enjoy watching your videos. With a steel frame, under load, you might find that even with the washers, your springs might end up rubbing on your luggage rack. Especially lateral load

Hi mate. Yes it's a concern. I've now fitted a 6mm spacer between the frame and the shock. It seems to be pretty well clear now, but as you said, that frame also has a bit of flex in it. Will need testing.

Looks great 👌 I’d use a steel rule & lay it along the rear shock spring (each side along the axis) to confirm actual travel of rear shock outer diameter to the saddle bag rack tube inner diameter. I think you’ll find the larger outer spring diameter will strike the saddle bag rack on near full rear compression. The rear shock springs look progressive type. I’ll look back.

Cheers Steve. Yes it’s pretty tight. Since filming some of those shots, I added a few more washers to the rear bolt to kick it out a little further. I think I now have the measurements for some spacers to clear it.

Was wondering with your 650 how you find it in winter conditions. I am looking at getting one for daily commute but I'm worried the salt rain etc of the winter will destroy the chrome etc ?
@WildlifeMoto
@WildlifeMoto 9 ай бұрын
Not great to be honest. You really have to keep on top of these cases. ACF50 all over it on a regular basis. Even then it still takes a fair amount of polishing to keep it looking good.
@reicethornhill2627
@reicethornhill2627 9 ай бұрын
@WildlifeMoto ahh OK so basically my thought was that daily give those main areas a hose down to remove salt etc and then once a week do a proper clean and gcf50 coat on all polished areas. That sound about right?
@WildlifeMoto
@WildlifeMoto 9 ай бұрын
@@reicethornhill2627 That should more than cover it. As long as you rinse off that salt after each ride, you'll be in a good place. The other option would be to whip off the engine casings and get them powder coated or clear cerakoted. I'm thinking about doing that to my 650.

@WildlifeMoto fair enough thanks, so you find tye cases the main problem but what about other parts like the exhaust etc
