It’s running on one cylinder at the end. Check resistance in the ignition leads, and replace them if they’re not somewhere in the vicinity of 5K ohms. The coil appears to be the OEM twin-tower plastic-cased coil; these were known to be problematic, and are prudently replaced at 35yoa.

Great video! Good effort! I noticed that the throttle cruise control had an extension added to better screw it while riding. That's a great addition!

OK! Do not turn that allen headed plug "a lot" in the Marzocchi forks (at least in the '92). They will only spin and not come out. Those plugs are what attaches the internals to the fork tubes and if you spin it too much you can loosen the internals. The phillips head screws are all that you should use for draining the forks. I watched this video before trying to drain the fork oil on my '92. I couldn't get those allen head plugs out. So I called Bob's BMW and spoke with the Tech. He stated: "do not spin those allen headed plugs. They are not for draining oil. Drain using only the phillips head screws." You're now forewarned.

Thanks for sharing! My understanding is that the top fork caps compress the entire internal mechanism and allow you to loosen the bottom Allen bolts when compressed. If the top caps are loosened first, the Allen bolts just spin with the entire assembly.

Thanks for the video! How did you get the rubber over the swing arm? I’m struggling
@filmoto14 ай бұрын
It’s so challenging to do! Letting it heat up in the sun helps a lot to soften the rubber. I started with the lower edge and got it seated. I then loosely installed the clamp and applied pressure to hold the lower edge in place. Then I pulled the upper edge of the rubber over the swingarm and used a small flat head screwdriver to gently push it toward the bell housing without marring the rubber. It usually takes multiple attempts. Good luck!

Thanks for this video - which I will be watching again for sure. Just bought a ‘92 R100GS that needs some TLC. Is the fairing original -I’d prefer to install a new fairing and instrument panel mount. Thanks!

Thanks for the comment! I had a 92 before and it had the full fairing. The 88 model year had this smaller tombstone fairing - it’s one of the reasons I got it, love the look!

How did you remove the allen head bolts on the bottom of the fork tubes? Mine spin. Screws come out, so I've drained most of the fluid. But I can't figure out how to remove the bolts at the bottom end.

Helpful vid thanks for sharing but ugh that sounded rough at the end .. what was the cause?

Thanks for the comment! That was really the first time letting the bike run after rebuilding the carbs so it was not synced. I am currently trying to sort out an intermittent fueling issue - either ignition or fuel related.
