Braden, thanks for this video - it gave me the confidence to take on this job. As it turns out, the coolant transfer pipe replacement solved the leak problem and I had no problem with the work after watching your video 10 times!

Thank you so much for the great video! This stuff is so much appreciated and the side notes are so helpful as well especially about not having to reset the servos. Hope to see more E70 and N62 stuff because this is pure gold to a guy who hasn't work much on BMW. Clear and concise!

Great video guy! This is very helpful in making my decision to buy a used BMW 650i convertible that suffers from this as well as valve stem seal problems. Thank you.

This is the best do-it-yourself video I have ever seen on youtube. I would never have done this myself without this step by step process. I was only going to replace the transfer pipe, should I also replace the water pump just in case?
@vincegpking19 жыл бұрын
typically the water pump starts leaking or rattling around 80k. you have it off, might as well.

I have a 2010 750li with this problem. Will this work? They try to charge me 5grand at the BMW DEALER LOL.

Still the best tutorial out there... Question, how hard to pull the outer half of the coolant pipe? The back half was easy, this front half is a pain. And how hard was it to return the 5th screw for the water pump? Thanks

There is an allen head in the back of the valvetronic motor you spin to relieve tensions and remove it comfortably

If you could. Do a pressure test on the coolant system on a BMW N62. And show us the tools that are needed and where to buy them that would be also helpful.

You can go rent it at your local autozone .

Thanks for video. Why do you prefer this version of repair vs. the stint that goes in behind the water pump?
@highrider247ify2 жыл бұрын
the o ring in the back of the pipe also leaks so the stint wouldn't be a permanent fix.

Hey Braden great video, do you happen to have the item code number for the replacement coolant transfer pipe. Cheers, Ian

Wonder if you could use a pipe cutter like plumbers use to cut that pipe instead of a grinder.

Just curious... Should there be coolant in the valley area under the valley pan or should this area be dry (the area where the coolant transfer tube runs from the front to the back of the motor)?
@78cobra8 жыл бұрын
dry, in the video he literally shows I'm self soaking up the coolant. and he stops the video and sais so.
@raptorcybersecurity8 жыл бұрын
I believe you are wrong. Once the valley pan is off, you can see the ports for coolant on both side-walls in the space where the coolant transfer pipe is - i.e. the chamber is specifically designed to be a sort of distribution point, which means it always has coolant in it.
@andrewwynn5 жыл бұрын
It's dry on the M62 but seems wet on N62. Notice no small return line I think the valley is the return line, however if the valley is full then how would you know if the pipe is leaking. I've not worked under the intake on N62

What I don't understand is why you don't try a bottle of bar's leak in the cooling system first...

Is it necessary to replace the valley pan cover or more important to replace the intake manifold gaskets? or both?
@78cobra8 жыл бұрын
kinda yes, to avoid leaks you can just clean it up and use rtv. but do it the right way plus if you look online you can find complete kits with everything you need for about 300 bucks
@back-n-actionmodelcollecti14534 жыл бұрын
Since the valley pan gasket doesn't come separate from the pan, as I hoped it would, I bought a new valley pan for $60 for my E65/750i. OEM valley pan.
