Just did 300+ miles on my new 2024 S1000 XR TE and i’m simply amazed at the capsbilities of this machine! Nothing fases it, it just….wow! Wow wow!!

You might want to talk to BHP UK regarding a re-map to improve low down and mid range torque, as they have done some work on the Euro 5 - XR bikes Best wishes Carl

I wore padded cycling shorts on my xr. Made it easy to tour on, at a fraction of a new seat.

I just recently "upgraded" to a XR, same package, M sport.... when you get those Black Widow headers on please post a video.. I'm curious to see if there is a massive difference in performance. I'm going to BrenTune mine for the stock headers, with the BMW Akra slip-on and a BMC race filter

Last year when I ordered my 1250R, I specified the “low” seat because like you, I prefer to be able to flat-feet a bike. Big mistake! Couldn’t ride for more than an hour before my arse started yelping for mercy! I suspect those low seats are not ergonomically designed to be lower, they are just the normal seats stripped of padding. Replacing the seat, installing bar risers and she’s all day comfortable. Keep the vids coming.

I have the 1250 RS in triple black with flat bars. I am 64 now and thought it might be my last bike but you have me thinking now Ricky 😊

Do takea test ride if you are interested... with that seat, the riding position and the four cylinder engine it's a bit of an oddball, but the handling and power do make it something that feels pretty special 😊

I have that same bike since last year, I’m 55 and, even though it might not be my last one, I think that I’ll stick to the boxer engine even for the next (if ever since I really appreciated it over 20000 miles). I live too much the low hand torque and I do not practice track days. Ride safe both of you ✌️

Rikky, do you feel the suspension is harsher on the lowered version.? I am looking at one but have only ridden the standard model, 2023, but there is a very nice nearly new one available with the low option I am interested in, but for the suspension... Cheers

I went the other way : coming down from a BMW K1200s and 170bhp I decided I didn’t really need that much power in modern speed conscious England , didn’t want to return to sport bikes ( I’m getting old ) but did want to keep shaft drive so the XR although tempting , after a look I decided to stick with BMW but chose the RS , I’m happy with my choice but can understand why you like the XR power

I had a really good time with the 1250R and you're right the shaft drive is a very string argument for the BMW boxers! Hopefully the M-Endurance chain on my bike lives up to it's billing with minimal maintenance (I don't like chains!). Your K1200 must have had an incredible engine!

@@RikkyTang sadly I can’t post photos in here but my K1200S ( 2005 in the yellow/black ) was only 19,000miles with 9 BMW service stamps and possibly the best in the country , was literally like brand new but was just too fast and silly speeds were just cruising home when out and the damn thing just wouldn’t do ‘slow’ 😂😂😂 . I really fancied the XR and went to look at one but then I thought it’s just as fast , no shaft drive … so I bought an RS and with handlebar risers fitted ( now with SW MOTO crash bars too) I think it’s my forever bike

Morning Ricky I have the low suspension model and the low seat and believe me it’s s**t and uncomfortable. I put a new black screen on mine and fitted black widow headers with a decat with standard end can sounds amazing and yes it’s very top heavy and I struggle to move it around and do u turns on it. Im based in Kent .

@Dave-ym7eq hiya Dave thanks for talking about your experiences with the XR! I think I got lucky with this bike coming with the M-seat. So far I'm pretty happy with that. As you'll know as long as you keep the bike very upright as you move it around its not too bad. Will be fitting crash bungs though, mainly for the day I drop it 🤣
