This was BMW's last chance to bring back the legendary S70 V12 back, but unfortunately, they stuck with a V8 hybrid, RIP S70. Congrats on 100 Videos, 3.15K subs and 400K views, you've come a long way dude!

@@maxboya The E32 and E38 were by far the best years for BMW 7 series. I once drove an E38 750, then drove an E65 750. The E65 was very nice but definitely fell below the standard the E38 set in my opinion.

@@KaDuWinE38 definitely had more electric gremlins and wasn’t as DIY friendly as the E32. To me the E32 750 will always be the king. First ever production V12 sedan. Doesn’t get as much credit as it deserves

@@maxboya Totally fair, I was never a fan of all the computers and overuse of electronics in general. One reason I miss my old 91 MR2, I could fix anything on it. But I did love the way that E38 drove compared to the overweight and clumby feeling E65. The E38 felt more rigid, lighter, and alive.

The 850M didnt give birth to the S70 engine, the McLaren F1 projects did. The S70 found its way in other cars after being conceived exclusively for the F1. The M70 block is the only piece of the M70 that was used for the S70/2 & 3. There was an upgraded version of the M70 that was tested for the 850M but that was not the S70, it simply an upgraded M70. There was no S70 prior to the F1's engine development. Paul Rosche (Head BMW engine designer at the time) originally developed the S70 because the modified M70 he presented to Gordon Murray for the F1 was totally wrong in weight, size, and performance. He later went on to redesign the head, internals, and exhaust to match Murray's F1 requirements. The S70 (and adaptations of it) were utilized /or tested in the LMP car, BMW X5, and others.

@@drummerdoingstuff5020 He overlooked the weight since BMW gave 77bhp more than he originally asked for lol. I think he got the better end of things. The engine is truly a work of art in my opinion.

Not sure, think the Mercedes V12 ended up being the better engine in the end with it still being used in things like Paganis.
@christheradar Жыл бұрын
The M120 engine, Mercedes's first V12 blew the M70 out of the water. The engine was one liter greater and put out 100 horsepower and pound-feet of torque more. Lastly, the M120 was more reliable than the M70. When BMW introduced the first German V12 engine in 1987, Mercedes-Benz delayed the introduction of the W140 by eighteen months to 1991 to develop its first V12 engine.

the mclaren F1 Lm is quicker than the normal f1 0-60mph only in 2.9s and it weights 1,062 kg while the F1 weights 1,138 kg the longtail is 900HP not 600 and it weights 915kg.

Where you get that information from? Because that's incorrect. The long tail do not make 900hp and the F1 LM is only quicker than the normal F1 on the track.

@@BriZ3l21 , I read your comments about 900hp versions, but I can't find any material on this. It may be the case that you got the Formula 1 engine specs, instead of McLaren F1. All that I could find is that there were several versions of the engine with power ranged between 550 hp and 680 hp.

There are a lot of mistakes in this video, with model numbers and accurate history, and pronunciation.

@@christheradar At 4:53 where you state that the S70 was developed into the S70/2, this is wrong it was developed fresh from two S50B30 engines at the time by Paul Rosche (a small nit pick but it is also pronounced "Rosch-e" not "Roush"). Also at 4:59 another small nit pick "Murray" is not pronounced like that. At 6:03 , saying "and a 48-valve is incorrect English." At 6:10 you say S30b50 when you probably mean S50b30 at 6:20 you say it was the first naturally aspirated cars to make 100hp/l which is also incorrect Honda, with the B16 engine was the first to break into that realm from their motorcycle division which had achieved this much earlier. At 6:26 you say it was the most powerful engine which is also incorrect in its time. at 6:30 you say 11:1 compression when it should be 10.5:1 at 6:32 you say it made 627hp this is incorrect it made around 618hp. at 6:38 you say it weighs less than 2500lbs this is incorrect it weighs 1,138 kg (2,509 lb), which is heavier than the Mazda MX-5 Which is 1,127kg (2484lbs) At 6:46 you say it set a top speed for 240mph, which is only for the prototype car the normal top speed for the cars was 225mph. at 7:50 you say it was restricted when it was actually a completely different engines, it also made 592hp not 600hp. at 8:52 you say it was built for downforce, however this is wrong it was built in the long tail to reduce drag and weight across the car. everything after 9:10 I have no knowledge on so I wont say further. But there are a lot of this that you have pronounced incorrectly though out the video. I am not trying to knock down the video, I just do not wish to see misinformation on the internet.
