I did the same thing trying to remove the connector to the power windows on drivers side door. Luckily it still seems to lock ok once it put the door back on and put some electrical tape around to ensure it does not become dis-engaged. I was not familiar enough with BMW connectors and could not figure out how to undo the connector.

If your car is non-HK - can you just buy the HK tweeters and install them?

No! These kits look the same and would fit however, there are different technical specs called impedances that affect the way they operate with the factory amp. Unfortunately the speakers will not be compatible between the HK and Standard Hifi amps because the impedances are different.

Not too stoked with this tutorial. Half of the clip removal for door is obscured by the door. I broke the clip with the grey flange because I didn't know that you have to rotate it 90 degrees. A little hint about that would have helped. Also a description of the tools required at the beginning and mention that you need a heat gun and to precut the sound deadening material would have been helpful.

Does there need to be any firmware configuration after installing if you put a new amp in? Looking to use your equip on a 2020 m240i with HiFi, and looking to either do the tweeters or not, but upgrade amp and speakers.

Hi, I'm just looking to retrofit the sound from hi-fi system by adding the HK speaker tweeters and eventually that will trigger more changes as well. But I really want to know if that's possible to buy and install those left right door speaker tweeters. Could you please advise what it takes to purchase them and install. Thanks

If you're going to spend the money on a speaker upgrade, minus whale put the sound deadening on the internal cavity of the door in addition to the outer panel that's covered by the door panel.
