Steering wheel judder is frustrating and difficult to solve. Join me in exploring each of the possible causes until we solve my persistent judder issue in my 2005 E61 bmw 5 Series Touring.
We identify worn ball joints, split bushes, worn out steering racks and take an in depth look at measuring brake rotor runout.

Hey, I've also been chasing the cause of the steering judder under braking on my e61. I switched out everything up front, from shocks, control and tension arms, wheel bearings, rotors, pads, and even brake calipers and gliding pins. The vibration kept coming back after a short while. I friend works at bmw and he told me I should never grease the gliding pins on bmw brakes. I took them out, cleaned them and the rubber sleeves thoroughly, reinstalled them dry and the judder was away immediately. Try it out.

Hi! I have had the same issue with my 320D F31 (2013). Vibrations when breaking at higher speeds (above 80 km/h), I changed break discs and break pads last summer, I also got my wheels balanced and the problem was gone. But now the problem has come back slowly. I just took all breakes appart and cleaned/checked but I could not find any warpage of the new discs (values looks good). Pads move nice and not any uneven wear. Front arms has a little movement but not to much, not like brand new ofcourse. Have you found your issue? I feel that it might be time to replace wheel bearings for the front, could these be the issue for vibrations? Should be for all speeds then right? Otherwise it might be time to try replace front arms for me I guess.

I accidentally found this video when watched again "vibrating bmw" KZbin content, and it's may be the solution to your problem: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eGGVqKage7Z_j5osi=NwoDFZrleNtsc6fz I didn't watched your video from start to the end, so sorry if you already checked all what's been mentioned in the video above.

Thank you for sharing that, much appreciated. The title of that video makes it sound like it's going to be some sort of common issue, but for his car, it was stripped threads in the calliper carrier where the slide pins screw in... I doubt anyone else has ever had that issue 😂
