You can check to see if there's an adjusting stud where the steering column meets the rack and try tightening it a half turn and see if that helps.

And I see many f30s every week, some of them has more clunky some of them less clunking knocking. But when ever you start the engine the disgusting knocking sound disappearing. I'm pretty sure there is something else that knocking. And apparently this repair kit doesn't do,,, doesn't change anything while you driving.

I replaced this bushing but nothing changed, yes now when the engine is off there is much less knocking, but still some noise, and when engine running and i start to move slowly I still have a knock when playing with the steering wheel (right left). I thought it will disappear but it's not. So this bushing doesn't change anything. I just spent money for nothing.

The bushing will eventually need to change, the new one is an upgrade to the existing one. Probably you need to check the inner rack ends, they tend to go also.

@user-phearle4 жыл бұрын
Tighten it until it is flush with the housing or until the knocking stops. Too much tightening will cause it not to recenter when driving and also stiffer than normal
@dopiaza20063 жыл бұрын
@@user-phearle Tighten to 55Nm ffs
@antanasrapkevicius38973 жыл бұрын
There is a very special tool to correctly torque this up as you have to measure the backlash at 3 positions etc. All this simple youtube DIY crap is a joke. Incorrect fitting will lead to permanent damage to the steering rack shaft itself, as it is 2 part shaft and it gets worn too, not just the bush. Tightening up until you get no knock is so pathetic as the centre is always more worn where you get the knock, not full lock position, where it would become way too tight. Either way, not my car, just saying.

@GuessWhoXCZ3 жыл бұрын
Did you mount it without a torque wrench? This is a bit risky in my opinion. The nut should be tightened at 70 Nm and then loosen by 60 degrees. After that you need to check if there is no resistance on the steering wheel. It is important that after the turning maneuver, the steering wheel returns to the central point by itself - if it is not, you need to loosen the screw a little. Ps. Has the knocking stopped after installing the repair kit in your car? Everything works as it should? Does the steering wheel run heavier than before? Regards
@zaimzarif75082 жыл бұрын
