It was supposed to be the z9 that was a concept car in 1999. But they made it to he 6 in 2003. But I still love it as the 6.

Actually the more I look at the E63, the more I prefer its design over a lot of other models. It was really ahead of its time and is outstanding to so many mainstream-cars. Though I have to confess that some parts of the front/ back are too bulky and the most coherent design in my opinion is the one of a M6 with the competition package hood. And to all the people complaining about Chris Bangle: Although he was head of design, the Exterior was designed by Adrian van Hooydonk ;-)

mine is a 645ci E64 convertible, 15 years old @ 55k miles - owned it for 18 months and look forward to my 20 mile commute everyday. Snow rain and especially shine. Surprising cheap to run and easy on tyres (once you ditch run flats)

The Jaguar really shows its age. Merc still looks good but the BMW 6 is timeless. Could came out today as many ask what car I am driving and think its quite new.

@@Shabbe02 It has.. only issue when I first got it was a weeping auto gearbox gasket which I had sorted with a change of oil, and a wheel bearing needed replacing. Just had it serviced last week, miles now 81k.. All good. Struggling to think what I'll change it for?

@@woooster17 nice, i am considering a manual E64 630i lci manual as a upgrade from my E93 320i manual, you should maybe buy a F12/F13 as a replacement, They are great cars.

I remember thinking what an ugly car when it came out. Well, had a 630i and now a 650i, both E64. It kinda grows on you and despite owning a E64 for over 3y now, I still don't know all of it's features. What is noteworthy is how different the 650i is compared to a 630i. You have more torque at 1000 rpm than 630i max. This makes driving so much more relaxed and effortless. Many of the faults of the 645Ci N62B44 engine have also been rectified in the N62B48TU, but not all. The N52B30 is more reliable and great in a E85 Z4 3.0Si, but struggles a bit in the much heavier E64. Not to forget how much nicer the V8 sounds, especially with less restrictive rear mufflers. To be honest, I drive the 650i because I cannot afford the M6. The S85 V10 engine has this wailing, spine tingling sound but is also very maintenance intensive with even more known weak points than the N62. All in all I really cannot think of a better 4 seater convertible and considering the serious problems the pre-LCI N63 engines in F12 650i had, I cannot see a worthy upgrade either. Besides I really like the characteristics of a N/A engine vs forced induction. The prices of especially 650i and M6 are just going to increase in the future. If you have a good one, keep it.

Haha I got an 2009 m6, with 69k kilos on it. Lived most of its life in a pensioners garage. Although I can't out right afford the serious maintenance items (I'm talking about rod bearings and oil pump all at once). I am budgeting to get it sorted out in the next year and just drive the car respectfully in the interim.

I now own a convertible 6 series M Sport. I can say that it is the most comfortable car i have ever known. It feels like it is part of you when driving even hard so all the stabilizing systems are in over drive. It does not take away the thrill of driving on the edge, it kind of enhances your driving with out taking over and it does it so smoothly you are not aware it is doing it. When you overstep the mark then and only then you realise that without these systems you would have been in real trouble. Its almost an AI system as the car learns your driving styles. The only gripes i have are the plastic door tops retain stains badly and pre age the cars interior. also i gave a very large guy a lift home from work and his weight damaged the seat sensor pad. so now got warnings coming up saying air bag fault. then last but not least the roof and windows go down by using the button on the key from outside the car. but you cannot put the roof back up or the windows on the key. you need to be in the car with the ign on to do this. But would i buy another one. Yes with out doubt in a flash. I recomend these totally

2 hard suspension, especially with RSC Tyres, a madness, SL realise anti roll with pneumatics not hydraulics, thats why its much softer

In BMW's ARS system, the anti-roll bars are split in half and fed with hydraulic oil. For this reason, the left and right are not dependent as in conventional anti-roll bars. So more comfortable.

Bangle was there while the e38, e38 were produced, thanks to Bangle we have this beautiful car, look at the new 6 series, also has a bangle butt. The e60 m5 is the most beautiful m5 ever produced, no one can argue with that. The only disappointment I would say it was the e65 7 series. Other than that Bangle was great

Say what you want, apart from the e65, I'd say the Bangle era resulted in some of the coolest and most special BMW shapes. Just look at the E86, E60, E92 or E63. They were WAY ahead of their time and aged far better than the competition (think Mercedes round headlights...)
