There is a huge problem in this field with punching down. Your dedication to doing the right thing everytime is something that I personally love. The day I fix a car and don’t care to understand why is the day I lose. Keep doing what you are doing, your loyal fans appreciate it 10000%. I was just at Super Saturday and they talked about how we want to be treated like professionals but don’t act as such. You’ll never go to a doctor and have them say that your previous provider was a “hack,idiot”. They act as professionals. And we must too!

Excellent video. I like where you are going with finding the root cause of failure. My first automobile instructor was an absolute genius, and his fundamentals ring true to this day. I feel like scope usage is the road less traveled because it takes a long time to master. You really have to know your craft well to be able to analyze data properly. The introduction of the scope in my diagnostic routine has ignited a whole new fire in me. Just when I felt stagnant in my career I realized there is so much more to know. I look back at all my misdiagnoses in the past a realize how this took could have saved me. Keep going Mario your helping guys like me push to a new level in their careers.

Dude that ignition analyzer is pretty slick! You mentioned a lean condition could lead to premature coil failure... Wouldn't that lean condition cause either a partial misfire or maybe a "fuel trim imbalance" code? What did the spark plug look like? 🙂

Hi there Pine Hollow~Enjoy your evening and great comment too

Not always, you know that lol Lean conditions aren't always on a single cylinder, sometimes it's a small vacuum leak, or pcv valve issue that causes premature ignition coil wear

The person or people that question your way got their answer. Those good and not so good questions in a way are really essential because they allow us to step back and critique our own work. Just to assure you, you are one of the best online automotive teachers out there, right up there with scannerdanner and diagnose dan. Now on the other hand, if the questions are coming from an ignorant anti-scoper type, then I suggest the following prayer/wish for them. May you find yourself in a very/extremely busy shop that you don't own, that only fixes brakes and exhausts. Amen

The Ignition analysis allows you to visually see what the problem is so you have identified the issue quickly and the swap of coils will be a second confirmation and the customer and you will be confident in the repair.

great video showing how fast you can diag =. i have one of those i love it. nothing worse than burning out a driver with swapping coils on some cars. dangerous to play that game sometimes.
@scientist1002 жыл бұрын
Indeed; though the PCM would be far gone now with two misfires and also would know that the coil caused the short because it wasn't there before and then you'd make the right call by selling the coil and the PCM. Win win unless the customer denies and now it has 2 misfires instead of 2; oops 😬

If you think about it there are more weekend warriors and DIYers here that are just looking for the silver bullets and just people that dont want to learn and just want a short cut to the fix. I think as your channel grows so will the negativity and that is not bad at all. This is actually how you know you are becoming more noticeable out in the world. I mean common sense will be to just watch something else if you dont like it but some people out there are just sad and want to bring other people down with them for no reason other than seeing other people doing it big out here. Please dont let this people break you mentally, our jobs are really stressful as it is. You are doing great. Last 2 videos it looks like you are trying to adress the unhappy people here and trust me anything you do, say or change you will not make them happy.
