X3m doesn’t know how to drive his m properly lol. He holds LC for like 2 seconds and let’s off.. on these trucks you gotta hold launch for about 5-7 seconds for the boost to build up fully. Then you’ll be gapping m40s all day long

Besides forged pistons, my 2021 b58 factory has 382 hp and I'm quite happy with it - especially in comfort mode :) Quiet and it gets out of it's own way quite nicely. The M competition is very cool though. I still don't like the fake front vents on both of them.

Great fun! The X3M would win on a 1/4 mile every time. Both are great cars. I’m currently considering the M40i. I’ve had a 2018 30i for three years and it’s been flawless. One recall on the cooling louvre actuator, oil changes and a new set of tires.

X3M competition is way faster you need to hold and configure properly especially the gearbox on M3 mode and sport plus all the way, you'll do 0-60 in 3.8 sec against M40i 4.4 sec, both are beasts but X3M it's really a wicked machine, it never stops pulling, once you're over 80 mph it will launch you to 120 in a heartbeat and it feels solid and squared as if it were over railway tracks.

And yet is NOT worth $30K more vs.the M40i. At 10K less, I can get a fully loaded Tesla Model Y performance that’s faster and has way more modern features. I know owners are not happy with the X3Ms as I see them being traded for in early all the time.

@@Great_America Totally worth it once you seat at the wheel and see how it pulls and how it drives totally different machine... you can compare an X3M40i with any usual X3 you really can't compare with an M car is a dfferent league alltogether, i know what am talking about. In the future the 30K gap vs a true M car should be higher. re: TSLAs i do not comment on EVs, personally i wouldn't buy one up until at least 10 yrs from now.

@@Great_America As someone who owned a 2021 x3 M40i for a year and now have a x3M comp, you are kinda right. The m40i is such a good value. Is the full M worth 22k? (The price difference between the two that I owned) Personally I think it is but will agree the M40i is such a good value which is rare for a luxury performance brand like BMW. I don’t really care for Tesla’s and for people who are into driving their cars and really feeling them out, Tesla isn’t really the place to be. Fast, yes. But charging, numb driving mechanics and garbage build quality will keep me away. Not being able to change your own tire and paying 2k+ for a windshield crack is insane. Plus they look goofy in my opinion.

M40i is closer to 4.1 seconds. BMW underreported the time on their site to make the jump to the X3M seem more dramatic. Best move is to get an M40i for your daily and an M3 for the fun.

before I got my m40i, I was reading on the bimmerpost forums that at lower speed the m40i is faster, but the X3M C picks up around the after the 60km/h, if the drag was for longer distance, the X3M competition will catch up. both cars are beasts, I bought mine for better day to day driving and cheaper maintenance, but overall if I had more cash to throw around I would definitely get the X3M, maybe not the competition xD

i got the x3m competition, indeed it has to catch some speed to run that turbo, then there is nothing to compare . i was driving around 260km/h, not safe to push the limit, it was great feeling to overtake mercedeses at 200km/h :-d

But if I lived in a nicer area with less pot holes like Cali or Florida, I would definitely get the X3M C. But all 3 cars are absolutely beasts.

We have both at home. The X3mc is totally different car. Not only the engine but the whole M xdrive and suspension. The car is stiff think it as a M3 estate that never was. It can hit 0-62 in 3.8 Secs. The M40i is more civilised probably better all rounder. Have stage one tune 93 octane on x3mc 615bhp and 785nm it’s a crazy animal. My m40i is more of a cruiser more comfortable . Both great but mechanically very different.

i brought an x3m comp 3 weeks ago as a run about and to take the dogs in, i use alongside my 790 bhp rs7 c8. Its a cool car, although i put bootmod on it after 2 weeks so running around 610 bhp more, im going to get a straight mid pipe section, ditch the opf and res, as this car has zeRO noise compared to a non opf usa car. but i’ll keep stock downpipes, due to noise/MOTs. i already have that with the audi.

Great Vid! Just got a 2020 M40i with the updated TU engine with 382hp. I surprised a guy in an X3M the other day. This thing is a monster definitely a sleeper. Can’t wait for BM3 + downpipes + Intake and Charge pipes to come in. See another KZbinr running 11.0 quartermile with said mods.

@@lionarofficial I have no clue about the current HP. It really doesnt matter to be honest. 700 HP and spinning=running 11s. Vs a 500hp SUV running 10s. At 100% stock I can tell you it was at 399WHP. Thats way over the 380 crank from BMW. lol.

TBF we didn’t launch both cars it was about who released first. But power to weight ratio the X3M has heavier suspension and gearbox set up drivetrains. Will do another comparison now that I have remapped my X3 with both launch controlled 👍🏽

False. The M40I picks up TQ around 2000-2500 rpm and the M is right at 3000rpm. Owning both, nowhere is the M40I faster than the M.

I think it's little bit more sporty than the X3 ( lower, stiffer, longer , aerodynamics )
