I’ve had my Z4 M40i for nearly two years and despite its original brilliance, I’ve improved many many aspects. It now goes better, sounds better, handles better and looks better. These modifications haven’t come cheap (£14000 and still rising) but it’s totally worth it for such a competent all rounder.

Honestly the best thing you can do to this car is an OPF delete, it makes it sound significantly better and is a fairly inexpensive upgrade.

@@xIcarus227The OPF is long gone! First was fit a sports cat downpipe. Second was OPF delete pipe. Two weeks later get rid of the OPF delete pipe and fit a straight through resonator cos it’s too damn loud! Third, get a remote valve controller. That’s when I realise that the valve is almost always open no matter which mode the car is in. Next fitted a Remus quad tip, twin valve exhaust. The sound is moderate or quiet. I now want a bit more noise! Will try a decat but might ultimately fit a valved resonator.

I dont like BMWs, but I will say this: The Z4 looks MUCH better than the Zupr4, and even as a Supra MKIV driver, I would rather buy a Z4 than a Zupr4.

11.2 is not bad for a 340 PS Roadster. I clocked a M2 Comp (410 PS) with 9.9 and a M135i (306 PS) around 13s.

I was faced with a choice. This Z4 here or Corvette C6 GS, i took the Corvette and i‘m glad about it. I had a Z4 E89 30i for a few time and test drove the M40i Z4 and it was more fun in the E89 for me than the M40i Z4. Dont know why. Nevertheless, its a nice car.

Ik blijf het raar vinden dat de BMW Z4 M40i in Europa maar 340PK heeft.. Dat is voor een B58 motor anno 2024 wel een beetje weinig.. Mijn "oude" BMW Z4 35is uit 2014 met N54 motor leverde ook al 340PK standaard.. In de VS levert dezelfde Z4 M40i wel 382PK.. EU-regelgeving?!? En belachelijk dat je er +/- 40k euro aan belasting bij aanschaf voor moet betalen in Nederland.. Zo gaat de prijs van 60k naar meer dan 100k met BTW en BPM.. 66% belasting, heel normaal..😝

The EU cars produce around 360-370bhp on the dyno. The OPF/GPF takes away about 15bhp and a lot of torque.

@@Melobmw as an owner, 'frustration' is a very good word for my attitude about the stock sound on the EU spec. The OPF is the culprit, a midpipe with an OPF delete solves everything.
