There is also the 2 vanos solenoid filters on the left side of the engine...You can clean them or replace them. easy job and they are not expensive.

Hi Doc just a quicky what is the life span of the timing chain on the n52 pls
@CorbinWilliams Жыл бұрын
Great question!
@mikikum1 Жыл бұрын
I've never heard of the N52 having problems with the chain. Just do oil services regularly. When I say regularly, I mean every 5-6k miles and once a year at least.
@WayToManyAssassins2 ай бұрын
Probably forever if the oil is changed.

Just changed vanos solenoids. Hope the Pierburg ones are good ones ? 255k on originals.

To change parts that will fail by design will not give us a reliable engine imho, will only delay that failure. So to make a car more reliable means replacing those parts with a better design ones or better materials used in manufacturing process. I expected so see smth like use that whater pump instrad of the original one cause is better and it will last twice as much. That kind of video will be interesting to make if even exists such examples😊.

Do you have to change the timing chain on a bmw 1 series “13”? A mechanic told me that it has a timing chain for life. Just checking this is true

Alternatively if you’re in a pinch with the vanos you can get some off a car at the junkyard for the time being. Dod this with mine as I needed my car to get to work.

I used Febi Bilstein vanos solenoids and ran far smoother. I had a misfire and ended up being a coil replaced a year ago NGK so you never know.

You are great on BMs and I’m working or more of them these days so yr channel is v helpful both in 15:21 completing knowledge and helping with diags. However I have to challenge a bit of what u say … ie just change it now cos it’s going to go bad anyway (paraphrasing) … While there’s some obvious thing where that makes sense (ie u have the manifold off and there were some DISAs beginning to make noise; or u r doing the water pump so replace the stat and maybe some hoses) But I couldn’t serously advise pple to change coil packs and plugs, or sensors, or whatever just because it’s there in front of me and it’s going to go bad. Where/when do u stop with that strategy. At the eye-bleeding cost of some of these OEM parts I’d be (justifiably) losing customers hand over fist … it’s different of course if it’s yr car , yr not paying labor and u can get yr parts at trade prices … maybe I’m not being fair to what you meant??? Happy to be corrected

A person that owns a BMW and uses Chinese parts is a person tbat should never ever be allowed to own (or even just drive) a BMW as such.

I used to disagree with that statement BUT now after doing due research and talking to a couple of O.G. BMW Mechanics I agree with you! Stick to ORIGINAL PARTS!
