Another great video bro, you can talk about the same engine a million times, and they won't ever get old, and I think you'd only KZbinr that ever said you going to buy a car basically for your subscribers, now that's love and loyalty and from your fans and your subscribers love and loyalty right back at you 💯🔥💪

Thanks a lot my brother ! The one thing I messed up on a year ago was not listening to my subscribers. after a year, I sat down with myself and wanted to redevelop what this channel was all about to begin with. And I come to that conclusion to do what made you subscribe in the first place. I noticed and it took me along time to recognise, M cars are all nice to see on here and the mechanical issues. But long term they are not viable , sustainable neither are they affordable for many. I had to dig deep and come to the realisation with that and that’s why, I want to sell the M5 now to bring more affordable stuff and carry that on for stuff you guys can relate. As I said in the video I don’t want you guys to lose faith in me and I don’t want money to change me as it does many people on KZbin and lose track of what they actually built up there channel from. I thank every single person that watches me and thank you for all supporting me from the start , now and forever. And I will continue to release videos on this car for you guys the more love and support you show me. And after this car we have my black E60 with the N52 that needs a full restore so we shall continue what this channel is so known and loved for!

Love your videos and totally agree. I have a 2011 N52 engine and it’s hitting a solid 225,000 miles. I’ve maintained the shit out of it with oil changes every 6k miles. Done all the obvious gasket replacements, drive belt, coils, plugs, check valves, valvetronic motor and everything else which I learned from your channel. Thanks for all the great videos🙏🏽

I own a 15' 428i Grand Coupe Sport, N-20. Was happy to see upon purchase that one oil recommended was 5-40, ofcourse full synthetic. As l live in Florida with hot and humid conditions for the majority of the year the higher viscosity was welcome to see as my other BMW'S do not show that in the owners manual. The others are now using the far better 5-40. A great sorce of information you add to my BMW knowledge subscribed a little while ago, thanks keep up the excellent work....🇺🇸

I fully agree with you. I have a 335i N54 motor and suffered vanos errors, misfire and generally bad performance. Dirt build up in the vanos filters and could also been seen in the oil filter. After changing the oil service interval much less problems. The filters stay clean. None of that carbon like grit in the filers and vanos operating fine. Being in South Africa and having a hotter climate it all make sense.

You are absolutely right. Most modern cars not just bmw are specified with 5w 30 in order to reduce internal losses in order to meet emission targets. And they all run hot. Totally agree that change oil more frequently than specified.

I couldn't agree more . It seemed quite strange to me that BMW would tout long service intervals between oil changes given the nature and sensitivity of the vanos system . I fully understand and agree with you completely. Oil is definitely the life and dictates the longevity of the N52 engine.

I still keep the first gen BMW X5 4.8is with the N62B48 engine. Yes, as Dr Dean mentioned regular oil changes goes a long way. I only put 5w40 in it and change the oil every 8000km. At 207,000km, it still purrs like a kitten and does not burn oil.

My recently bought 2010 E90/N52 broke its belt while I was driving. Still managed to drive home not knowing the belt issue. Luckily I found no belt debris had been sucked into the front crankshaft seal. Replaced the belt and tensioner and the roller beneath the alternator. While doing the oil filter housing seal and the water cooler seal adjacent to it, I found the seals had gone hard and there was oil everywhere on the front of the engine. Had to clean everything and re-installed the seals with some sealant to help them last longer. Oil change advice is good. That should apply to every modern car no matter what the mfr says in the manual, same with transmission fluid, diff fluid etc.

Would you also recommend it for n53b30? That's what i always used for my 330i n53. I used to use Valvoline SynPower 5w40 and then switched to Motul X-Cess Gen2. I think that my engine was smoother while using the SynPower oil. Do you recommend something better? Cheers.

I change the oil on my 2018 530d every 8500 miles. I use Castrol Edge Titanium LL 5E 30 and I strongly recommend anyone else who drives the new gen G30 BMWs to do likewise as the official 19000 BMW oil change is too long. I also use the official BMW filters - do not use cheap oil filters. Just rock up to the BMW Service desk, give your reg/vin and buy a few original ones. If they mumble about you servicing you car while it's under a service plan just say it's for your brother's car which is the same model and year.

My 22yo 735i is still going strong after 220,000km because she's had fresh oil and filter every six months for her entire life, I've done this knowing it runs at 108 or what I call a hot runner. I recently did the timing guides as a time based preventantive maintenace measure and found my engine still very clean internally with a tiny 10mm round patch of slude in the pan. I've worked on other M62 engines that followed BMW's extraordinary 25,000km intervals and at 150,000km their timing guides fail and internally they're caked in sludge everywhere. Like Dean said BMW make it sound good that they don't need much servicing to the first owner, but BMW want to sell new cars and lots of parts for any who dare to buy a poorly maintained old one, so there's a secondary financial benefit to promote poor servicing.

Everyone who works on engines gives that advice. Were BMW technicians and service advisors trained to try and talk you out of early oil changes? As a matter of interest what's the longest time you've seen CBS go for between oil changes? Porsche seems to be even worse, it's as if it takes a few years for the service message to appear on my 997. I just change it every year at any rate even though it only does a few thousand each year.
