It always amazes me the amount of detailing Bruce is putting into his work..Once you compare his work attitude and discipline with other boatbuilders and restorers, he for sure outperforms the majority of them.. To be considered as well is the fact he is doing everything by himself.. Congratulations Bruce..

Another masterclass - please do not worry about days passing - your team is you alone and we all perfectly understand time frames. Behind the toilet seat maybe one of your well engineered cupboards for toilet rolls and some cleaning material. Looks like that space has some potential.

The head seat support bar would be a nice place to put a small shelf on the right half. You can still hang a towel on the left, and, you can never have too much storage space on a boat! Also, your girlfriend will love having more room to store her tons of make-up and hair spray!

I cringed as you used a steel hammer directly on the finish piece to knock the two pieces together. First of all a wooden mallet is easy to make, but in lieu of that any block of wood on your piece that you can use to hit with any hammer so that any damage would be on the scrap block and not you’re finished piece. And I do agree that spring does a wonderful job, but it also shows the defect. One of your joints could use a little filler, which would’ve been best done after the first coat of primer or undercoat as you will.
@BuildingSYMistress Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comments and concern Duane, appreciated and fyi I have non-steel hammers and use wooden blocks - when deemed better for the job situation - which can be seen in prior episodes, the careful and gentle use of a steel hammer on hardwood does not even make a dent and re. finish - whether brushing, rolling or spraying, all have their 'not perfect' end results, which is why I have explained several times in this and other episodes, "nothing is perfect". Also fyi, there are several joints (in this episode and previously) that I could have faired better, but again as I have explained previously, I am a ONE man show doing everything and always along the way the decisions of 'MOVE ON' to the next job HAVE to be made, because I want Mistress in the water to go sailing,.... 🙂👍🏻

It amazes me as to why people cover up wood with paint , wood has a natural beauty that paint will never have , it cant be to protect it ! juswt think what that head would look like with the natural look of wood and accents of copper like the sink and handles and such , white looks so commercial ! just my opinion and not my vessel !
@BuildingSYMistress Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your good comments Dave and understood, however there are quite a few reasons to 'cover up' a boats wooden interior, for practical/maintenance reasons, certain looks change over time and of course personal aesthetics/taste. I have sailed and lived on boats that have the more traditional all clear finished wooden interior and like many others, I find that this both 1)visually really shrinks the spaces, giving a very 'heavy' feel inside and 2)in fact nothing in particular really 'stands out', the, "can't see the tree's for the forest" effect. I know that in most of my videos most of the finished work is covered up but fyi my plans are to accentuate the lovely Rosewood and Hoop Pine, you could check out some examples of what the look of Mistress' end aesthetic/look results will be in the below episodes slide show toward end (although things have well progressed since) and furthermore follow Mistress' journey to see what the end results turn out like - kzbin.info/www/bejne/paqreniCrLR8gZY 🙂👍🏻
