When I was a teenager I used to get up early Sunday mornings and listen to the Gospel Singing Jubilee! Loved all the quartets that were singing! Didn't know then that I was watching history and a great testimony for the Lord Jesus Christ!

Low key super talented, mega underrated Cats lineup. Horne gives them that Appalachian sound that they never really had at any other time. But, Roy Tremble really balanced Roger at the top of their sound and gave the group a personality in their sound that they'd have to search for a decade to find again.

@InspirationsFan The Cats probably did more to mold southern gospel into a mainstream style than any other group. Listen to the Statler Bros. and the Oaks, and you will clearly hear their influence. The Cats never copied anyone. Although they didn't become a household word, they were the group that other groups listened to.

Bobby Best That's cool bro. I grew up watching that show every sunday morning before we headed outto church, and I should've remembered the name. As a kid, at some of the all night singings back in the 60's, I met a good bit of those gospel greats that were on the show. I met, the Oak Ridge Boys, Hovie Liser and the Statesmen, Jd Sumner, the Florida Boys, and gosh, I can't remember who all I met. It was a treat for a kid back then to meet his singing greats at an all night gospel singing.
