I just discovered your channel and subscribed. Being a train nut myself, I really enjoy all the forgotten railroads you explore. Thanks for all your work! It’s a wonderful channel! Dave in the S.F. Bay Area

Nice to see another one of your videos about an interesting part of Arizona. It answered some of my questions about the operations there. Thanks.

Thanks. Yes, and Matthie is not easy to get to. The gate is locked on the access road, but I found a sneaky detour. And, it's fairly busy as well.

Great video. I know this sounds stupid, but when I went to Matthie, I couldn't find the interchange...)I found Wickenburg) My girlfriend was yelling at me ha ha) as I drove back and fort through subdivisions.. and I even stopped at a convenience store but no one there knew anything about rails in the area ... Had to drive back to Prescott empty handed.

BTW, I noticed by looking at your channel you're a railfan AND likely a ham operator. I'm W7DSY.

As you were filming the activity at Matthie, you were standing between the rails on one leg of the wye. In addition to trespassing on private property, you comletely disregard all respect for your own safety. Wickenburg and Matthie recall memories of working with rail and tie replacement gangs back in the early 1980's on the 4th District.
@W7DSY5 ай бұрын
If you will notice the rails are rusty, and that's because this leg of the wye is DISCONNECTED at both ends from all live tracks as it has been for a number of years. So I was in no danger.
@glennfoster24235 ай бұрын
@W7DSY I admit I was hasty and not familiar with the current current "out of service" wye status. When I was a supervisor working with the tie gang in 1980, the wye was very much in service and thus provoked the comment. Generally, fouling a track is not a safe practice sans proper protection.

About how many trains go thru there in a day? I'm moving to AZ from Chicago soon and have a few good spots already, including wickenberg but today was the first time i saw this area on the map and started researching a bit and found this video. Thanks for the video!

Best place to go for this is the facebook page 'BNSF Phoenix Subdivision (Peavine)'. That will keep you up to speed. My guess is for BNSF about 4, and for the A&C, 2/day. Thanks for watching!
