Yes you don't see those KCS locomotives too often especially on the coal trains.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I hear the trains on the rear are controlled by remote.
@billtimmons70714 жыл бұрын
Yep. Front end lead unit will control the rear units remotely using radio - called distributed power (DP or DPU) . Engineer can use rear units to shove, to brake, or idle them. IMHO DP and dynamic brakes are the best thing since sliced bread for railroad operations. Very cool stuff.
@Angry.General14614 жыл бұрын
@@billtimmons7071 I hear two different things. Some say they have their own drivers. If they are radio controlled it seems like that would be a risk of them losing signal or losing control.

What does the color on the cars mean
@travelingtom9234 жыл бұрын
It indicates which end the rotating coupler is. When the car is emptied at the power plant it is rotated 360 degrees in a special machine. Only one coupler rotates per car. So you need to make sure you have the colored end matched with a non colored end. These cars has several colors. Likely they needed more cars and bought them from some other railroad. Normally they are all one color.
