The last poem he reads shows off his actual skill for writing poetry, but he still undercuts it to make it a joke. If I had to guess, the book wasn't his idea.
@crycrywolf3 жыл бұрын
A lot of poems in the book are actually pretty dark and emotional. I’m guessing he didn’t read those during the special because it wouldn’t be funny lol. But there’s a few that genuinely made me cry. Lin Manuel Mirana also is a big fan of it and said he reads the (tame ones) to his kid.

I got both the paper book and the audiobook (which he reads) when he released them. The real power move is to listen to him read to you, but follow along in the paper book so you can look at the illustrations (which are awesome in their own right). lol I'm not afraid to say I've done exactly that.

Egghead is a pretty good book. It’s got funny poems and serious poems. They really are quite reminiscent of Shel Silverstein in their interesting simplicity. One of my favorites is Homonyms. Homonyms aren’t fare. It’s awful. It’s tragic. I say I’m pulling out my hare And they think I’m talking magic. I like this one because it’s generally pretty clever but also because I think it comes back to some of the themes in “Can’t Handle This”. But maybe I’m over-analyzing.

Can you explain the meaning of this poem? I didn't really understand it, probably because english isn't my main language
@cameronjadewallace4 ай бұрын
There's only one Shel Silverstein poem I have in my brain... I was walking in a circle when I spied a piece of paper colored yellow, green, and red... When I picked it up I noticed that it had a bit of writing and this is what it said: and then it continues. I think about it every day. And it's like ... The song that never ends...
@cameronjadewallace4 ай бұрын
@@Kaneerenfare means a toll paid, but is said as fair, which means equal, which tolls are not. Hare, is a rabbit, an homonym of hair, what is dead protein that comes out all over your body, but because of the rabbit, magic... Like pulling a rabbit from a hat.

I actually doubt very seriously Bo needs a book to perform, it's a prop used to create theatrics, people of Bo's caliber don't need books, trust me on that. always remember the first rule, what do people do when their on stage??? They act, remember, its just a show up their, it's a performance, entertainment, theatrics, comedy, musical, educational. can ya dig it??? js
@Zwetschge1143 жыл бұрын
@@SuperMatt2112 He might still want it just in case or to sorta hold onto something. And if he already has the notebook as a prop, might as well use it. I don't think he needs it either, but having that little thing there can still be assuring, even if you never use it or even really look at it. Obviously it also might just be there as a gimmick for those of us who pause the special and check, we'll never know.

Quick one since you asked abt his book. I got both the book and audio.. bc the book, on its own, truthfully... it needs delivery. Then after watching some reviews, i saw similar opinions and few recommended getting his audio version instead bc he narrates it... so as evidenced by few here.. his comedy doesnt quite work without that Bo delivery. I compare it a ton to listening to a really complicated lyrical rap vs just reading the lyrics without any flow concept.. you know? I recommed audio, but if youre a nostalgic person like me.. i like having the book as well.. just my experience. 🧚🏻♀️

Agreed. I still think White Woman's Instagram should be called Is This Heaven? For spoiler reasons. I will never forget my first reaction to the song and it would have been completely undermined if I already knew what he was talking about. The same is true for Beating Off on A Minor.
@maggiegeeee3 жыл бұрын
While I can see where you’re coming from, I think he put the punchline in the title mainly because up until now, the majority of Chris’ audience has been people who have already seen these specials so the joke really isn’t being spoiled for them. Not only that, but if I had never seen the special and I read the title, I would not have known that it was referring to the key A-minor (and not the felony). Honestly, if I had never seen the special and somehow stumbled upon this video by Chris, the title alone would be what enticed me enough to click on it and watch it, if only just so that I could find out what the hell that provocative line could possibly be referring to.

Yea this was his laugh if its funny regardless of consequence phase a lot of millenials had (I never had a sense of humor so I just watched from the sidelines). His pun on "cromagnum/no homo" is actually clever while also being juvenile and weirdly homophobic. Oh his notebook is blank. You expect a circles dont fit in line and then he outs the metaphor. He loves to take a random turn. His Egghead poems have shorts but also some nice full pagers (with poetry thats still not long but its like 10 of his squares/circles one). You can get the audio book read by Bo.

I read the book (and listened to the audiobook) and have to say that it falls short of most of his other material. I’d say the funniest bits of the book made it into the show, and the rest are a step down. It’s worth a few chuckles, but go into it with lower expectations. It does help to have him read it for you in the audiobook version
